[Archive] List of FW CD rumours

Grimbold Blackhammer:

You mean like Brettonians, Dwarves, and Wood Elves are? We’ll do what they do - keep playing!

Grimstonefire:

Aside from the management directing when a new army can be added to the range, the studio works mostly by the designers being inspired.

Hence why they don’t work to a fixed schedule.

Now that FW have taken a lot of the design/ inspiration work out through everything they’ve done already, it should in theory be easier for the main studio to be inspired than ever before.

If they can produce random new plastic terrain every now and then (that may or may not sell well) I really don’t see why they couldn’t just use those resources to do a collaborative effort with FW and jointly release a stand alone book.  Mixture of plastic, FW resin and finecast.

I think the Legion of Azgorh will only be updated:

#1  If they release a lot more models outside the list.

#2  If 9th ed is dramatically different (which I doubt it will be).

Otherwise they’ll just update the FaQ every few years if needed.

fattdex:

Because it doesnt fit the marketing, sales chain m.o that they have now established. Short tease, show in white dwarf winning a battle, blitz into all of the stores and into lgs order sheets, sell the new book and models for two months solid then rinse and repeat with the new hotness. Release next stage model releases with a new buzz in about 12 months to shift units again and clear some stuff that didnt shift in the initial release, do the same for a third wave. If much of the army is forgeworld only, they cannot operate business as usual as they are unable to sell to lgs or stores and there will be complaints from the non online savy (which is who exactly these days? My grandparents are online lol). However if they bit the bullet and made forgeworld models available to stockists, happy days!

eudaimon:

I was at Warhammer World at Christmas (and picked up my CD army) and spoke with the manager of the store there. He said that the CD sales had been the strongest of all the FW models sold. Usually FW models sold quickly for 2 months on release, then dropped off, but the CDs hadn’t stopped selling. He also had to get a staffer to run over to FW to bring over some more stock as they were running out in the store.

Generally was a really nice experience, I was tossing up between the two iron daemons, and the guy asked one of the FW sculptors to come down with two built models so I could compare in person rather than on a page, and a short while later the sculptor duly came along.

I went with the Skull Cracker.

I am truly the definition of a nerd as this type of experience, and the others listed here make me drool with envy!!! I think you guys have convinced me to save my pennies and maybe travel to England during a reading week and make a stop at Bugman's for a beer or three.

MLP:

Warhammer World is always a great experience, I work about 40 minutes away and try to go at least once a week. Getting to know the staffers you can sometimes get rumours of what’s going on as well along with bumping into designers,m sculpters and whatnot.

Vogon:

I tend to make an annual pilgrimage as I live a couple of hours drive away but I’ve been twice this year already (once for my birthday and once for the FW open day) I even managed to get a couple of photos of my chaos dwarf army on one of the permanent WFB tables in the gaming hall.

It’s a brilliant experience which I highly recommend.

P.S. Try the “Fat bloke Burger”

Cheers

lol a burger named after me? Delicious!!!!

Thorgar:

Im getting quite excited for the Bull Centaurs, so far the whole CD range by Warhammer Forge is great. Anyone know when these may go up for pre order? I should start saving some money…

MLP:

I think I remember hearing about an august(ish) release for Bull Centaurs but don’t quote me on that.

wallacer:

If they look anything like the art work they should be great.

As M. Skomorowski is the one who is supposed to make them , I'm relatively confident huhu .

They said about 6 months at the open day so that would put it roughly September and therefore just in time for Games day, the same for the K'Daai Destroyer.

Ah, thats too bad it takes FW months and months of time to release miniatures that are.. probably about finished at this moment.

The thing is they're not finished which is why they're still a way off. The sculpts have to be finished, the Destroyer at least is being done in the sculptors free time, then the master moulds made then produce enough to satisfy the demand when they do go on sale.

brotsorrow:

I imagine there is a lot of work that still has to go into a model after the sculpted models are done. From what I read from one of our own sculptors, it looks like a lot of work to get ready for sale. Like mentioned here - how many days of solid production would be needed to produce stock for first day sales? Not to mention test runs for the molds, etc…

Im glad its later this summer as it gives me time to save some money for a solid unit of BCs and a Destroyer. Now where’s my piggy bank?

Satan:

Figured I’d post here rather than clutter up the mantic thread, but there hasn’t been a WF Newsletter for the last 2 weeks, which is sad - I think alot of people were hoping for some news about the remaining CD releases, in spite of the 6 months wait anticipated here…

Vogon:

There was nothing at the open day that was even close to being ready except the fireborn so I guess we’re in for a bit if a wait.

Ugly Green Trog:

The only thing I feel the FW CD section is missing is a BSB model and a bull centaur Taur’uk hopefully these will be done at some point, I am really struggling to work out what to use for a BSB for my army. I have a few options but trying to find a model that fits with the feel of the WF models like the IG isn’t proving easy.

You convert one using the Infernal Guard Command Pack using the Castellan with the Standard bearer's arm quite easily. Then use a banner top of your choice and pretty much any chaos one will do nice.
