[Archive] Metal Elemental Miniatures - any ideas?

clam:

Hi,

After finding (some of) my old AD&D metal miniatures - clearing my dads house - I’m now toying around redoing some of them.

Only 2 elements are left in the box, though (RP water and air). Have now checked ebay for some weeks - but Ral Partha AD&D don’t come for free.

So question is - are there any current companies doing elements that will suited old school models - other than Reaper and Mirliton? And do I have to say ‘metal ones’? - of course?

:cheers

And speaking of Mirliton - anyone who has experience dealing with them? Til now my Italian purchases hasn’t been that successful :~

Zuh-Khinie:

I’ve always liked the elementals from Confrontation… but they’re hardly what you’d call oldschool I presume.

Games Workshop still has its elementals up for sale (check under warhammer - warhammer collectors - elementals)

It’s 30 euros for the set, and they’re oldschool…

clam:

Thanks Zuh-Khinie - actually did know that you could still get the GW ones - never fancied them to much, though - but a valid option if I don’t get pointed in the direction of others.

Rackham did some? Are they metal and are they still available?

Obsidian:

Confrontation are not readily available from Rackham anymore I believe but check Ludik Bazaar, they might have them and if they do they are usually cheaper than Rackham was.

warh:

There some cool elemental model on Ral Parthas online shop
Ral Partha Europe Online Shop

Plus the metal elemenals could be used for CDs?
and the giant lizardmens are made by the amazing Bob Olley!

clam:

Yeah, Ral Partha do some amazing miniatures, that’s for sure. And the metal element is awesome.

Unfortunately they have ‘chosen’ (probably forced not to do so by WotC) not to continue the old AD&D range and the common elements like air, water, fire and earth :frowning:

zobo1942:

RAFM Miniatures & Games: Elementals

Here are some, if you want ot just remove the wizard…

warh:

If you can wait for 3 - 12 monthsx.x BTD got some cheap and old school models

clam:

Thanks warh :hat off - Yeah BTD has got themselves a reputation there.

Their miniatures are definitely old school - but in a bad way - lots of their miniature are so soft on details and badly sculpted :frowning:

warh:

I got some dwarf crossbows from them that I think looks great. I can post better pictures of them if anyone interested

clam:

Thanks, but no need to do that. I’ve got a few BTDs myself, so I know of their ‘quality’ - great for rank and file - but not ‘display’ quality.

@zobo1942
RAFM  - especially air and earth rocks  I like them, I like them a lot - look:

- anyone know where to pick these up in the UK?

warh:

I will post them anyway once there finnished:P

you could look at Mega Miniatures, they got a lot of minis for D&D

I think I will pick up some of there dwarfs when I can

clam:

Yes please, do that

As for MegaMiniatures - yes they do have some great Dwarfs. I have a set of the - so called - chaos dwarfs Bob did for Metal Magic (that has ended up at MegaMiniatures). They are great.

And yes the do a lot of miniatures for D&D - but can’t recall elements - but I’ll check.

Once again thanks guy, you’ve been very helpful - but should you stumble across some any one else - let me know, will yu’ ?

Yeah, thats the set I'm thinking to get plus the cannon and some more dwarfs:D
and maybe some orcs and hobbits:P

warh:

I have some great news about BTD!

I made a order only one month ago and got it today! I really hope BTD is getting back again

zobo1942:

Also, if you search ‘elemental’ on the RAFM site, you get some other options as well:

RAFM Miniatures & Games: Search

then, type ‘elemental’ into the search box…

EDIT: URL…

EDIT2: Damn. The more I look at this site, the more I love the miniatures! The ‘war turtle’ was the first miniature I ever painted! Also, the war machines seem really cheap - search ‘catapult’. Ah, and here’s the most awesome ‘musician’ I’ve ever seen! http://www.rafm.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=RAF&Product_Code=RAF02925&Category_Code=COCMM

Firehammer:

While I like RAFM and all Reaper ones, here some more elementals (including non-metals):

West Wind: http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_5

Grendel (old school, cheap resin, search this category): http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_44&sort=20a&page=2

Heresy: Pussy Patrol - Battlefield Berlin - Shop

Dark Age: Colonial Marine Sergeant (1) - Battlefield Berlin - Shop

Fenryll (resin): Elementaire de pierre

But the best ones are by Wizards D&D miniatures (plastic):

clam:

Thanks, Firehammer.

Some great - and unknown - ones in there, thanks for inlighten me

But I’ve decided I’ll try and find those Ral Partha ones - so of to eBay with my big wallet - lol - cause, after spending AUD$ 120 on Bederken’s - I’ll probably have to lay low for a while.
