[Archive] Midwest Rampage 2010 (Might allow Indy GT Chaos Dwarfs

Swissdictator:

Please be sure to read my blurb after the quote.

Greetings everyone!

I apologize for the lateness of the announcement, but we almost didn’t get a venue this year.

Thanks to Tom McClure’s legwork in Peoria, we have a location and dates for this year’s MWR. I do hope that many of you can still make it even with the late announcement!

Here are the details:

When: May 22nd & 23rd, 2010

Where:

The Grand Hotel & Conference Center

4400 N. Brandywine Dr.

Peoria, IL 61614

http://www.grandhotelpeoria.com

Cost: $50 - payable via PayPal, snail mail, in person, etc. I will not be able to attend Adepticon this year but there will be someone available to pay for the MWR. If you want to pay for Rampage at Adepticon, let me know and I will tell you who to get the $ to.

Rooms: The hotel will have a block of rooms available for us. I will have details of the cost on the MWR website early next week.

The website is mostly finished, I have a couple more tweaks to add but for the most part, it is done. If you notice some needed info lacking, just let me know. I know the link to the DoW pdfs doesn’t work anymore, so if you need them, email me and I will get them to you.

Website is:

http://midwest-rampage.jimemerick.com/

Armies: You will need to bring a 2250 point army, along with 250 points of DoW which will be used in Rounds 2 & 3. Also needed is an objective marker on either a 40mm or 50mm base.

I hope to see as many of you as can still make it this year! It is gonna be a good time again!

Thanks,

Jim
Right now the Indy GT Chaos Dwarfs are a maybe. Please understand I don’t want to commit him to allowing the Indy GT Chaos Dwarfs. So keep an eye on the sight, as the appropriate info will change/show up. If you see “Robert Elmer” Indy GT Chaos Dwarfs" in the whosin… that’s a good sign. Currently the site says yes, but I’d ask him if the site is accurate or not as you were warned they were only a maybe.

The point of this tournament is to run friendlier/softer lists for fun. It encourages armies over character/monster fest. The biggest prize is “Gentlemen Gamer”. Comp is important, a very high comp list get more BP for Win/Draw/Loss than medium or low comp lists (check the info on the site). Last year Best Overall went to Tomb Kings (low character count too I think). There were also many lists with little to no magic.

Top tier armies tend to be much softer or themed versions of themselves. Last year I saw pure Khorne deamons (lots of Bloodletters), I fought pure Nurgle daemons with no magic (With RH Chaos Dwarfs) and was able to draw.

This will be my fourth Rampage. I’ve had a blast everytime. I HIGHLY recommend anyone who can make it, do so. 1st year I took Dwarfs, 2nd VC, 3rd Chaos Dwarfs. I probably had the most fun with the Chaos Dwarfs too… but there is something amusing about making Hobgoblins cause fear or terror (I love death magic).

So I hope to see some you there, be it Chaos Dwarfs or another beloved army! Play the army you enjoy the most and make it what you’d most enjoy fielding.

Hobgoblyn:

It strikes me that the Indy CD list is so full of flaws and problems that it really isn’t worth allowing. I am not certain who created it or why, but it seems to me that it is absolutely bizzare that it was adapted and accepted without question to so many tournaments already without proper balance and playtesting in place.
