[Archive] Mouthwatering Chaos Dwarf Rumour

Uzkul Werit:

And many Chaos Dwarf armies have a hint of 300 in them.

I hope they don’t drop LOTR. My Hobbits are my pride and joy, despite how stupid the little LOTR players are.

torn:

Ah yes, Talisman could be really fun.

i chekced though they arent releasing miniatures with it just cardboard, so i cat see it being an entry into the hobby as heroquest was for so many of us diehards.

i think thats the thing there are a lot of people who start older and dont keep it up, whereas my friends and i who have been doing it 15+ years arent going to stop any time soon. and lets face it at a young age the models are more eye catching than the game itself

That's the problem with the new talisman game! We need miniatures! Heroquest was awsome, but what got me into warhammer was actually a videogame... or a computergame. I remember 9 years ago, when Heroes of Might and Magic 3 first came out. I had played heroes 1 and 2 since I was like 5 years old, and got the 3rd game as soon as it came out, but after playing it for a couple of months, I simply needed some material things from the game, and so I began to make fimo sculpts for the differant creatures and play with them. It all went well until one of my friends got his hands on a white dwarf mag. It was the issue with the 4th ed Chaos mortals. I remember when I saw a pic of the slaanesh snake-lady, Dechala the denied one, I wanted it as a Naga Queen, then I saw skinks, griffons, elves, dwarfs, orcs and undead.
Do you remember the old one-piece plastic boxed sets with 5-10 models for like 4? Those were awsome! My first model was such a pack of skinks, then came a zombie dragon and some genestealers (WTF?) and I remember something about an old skeleton bone chariot that I might have got even before the skinks...

Cool old times... The nostalgia...

so videogames can get people into wargaming...

Thanks

cornixt:

I get the feeling that they will be releasing a load of miniatures for Talisman seperately (or one box at least).

I had the last version, but it always ended badly (I was the only one to ever go against the dragon so I always won, got a bit boring after a while). I bought a Taurus instead of the plastic dragon centrepiece.

The Raven:

2009 is nothing new actually, the rumors have been late 2009/early 2010 ever since I started my beloved big hats 3 years ago and I believe the speculation was there before then.

Still, it does sound hopefull:)

What about that old school warhammer PC game, that was great fun.
Can't remember the name of it at the moment though.

Xander’s rumour is nice, but I wonder how long we’ll actually have to wait before GW lift the veil of secrecy and state that they are in fact working on the Chaos Dwarf Book?

If I save $10 a week I should have about $1,000 to spend on Chaos Dwarves when the Army is released (take that, credit card :P)

Xander:

Nice planning Wallacer. =]

Grimstonefire:

If they are indeed coming out in 2009, I would expect it to be unofficially confirmed by the end of this year (via warseer/ dakka)

Kyte:

According to Hastings, concept skteches have already been stotted, and I wouldn’t be suprised, if the new book will be incredible, and make up for the little care CDs have been given during it’s lifetime.

Thanks

If you're planning on leaving GW soon, you should put all in to get pics of those. Even if they fire you, it's worth it!

Thanks

minty:

  1. i don’t have pics, my boss just came in wit them in his case

    2. I like my job

Xander:

Not these Samurai Goblins I hope. :stuck_out_tongue:

wallacer:

When I read the phrase “samurai goblin” it made me think of the Rackham Goblin miniatures.

Anyway, back on topic… if they do start doing the initial interest boosting piccie releases and so forth sometime later this year, I wonder if there is a chance that CD could be playable in the upcoming (rumoured) Man O’ War re-release. A Chaos Dwarf navy would be a lot of fun to play.

Sorry, reading back i’m not entirely sure that was back on topic. Oh well

ChaosStunty:

Do you mean DOGS of war?

The Flying Beaver:

Man O’ War was like a fantasy version of Battlefleet Gothic. It was a specialist game where you could build navies and battle them against one another. The Chaos Dwarfs had a navy in this game before it was discontinued. I’ll see if I can dig up some pictures for you.

Xander:

Games Workshop doesn’t really discontinue support for Specialist Games, they just finish with them and no longer stock them in Retail Stores. They have to do this from a business stand point. :stuck_out_tongue:

It would be a cool game to try, especially with some Oil Powered Ships of the Dawi Zharr.
