[Archive] My two lists

Geist:

I am torn as to which way to go with my lists. I only have till the 24th to choose for an upcoming tourney.

List A

Lord Hashut, blood, ironcross, 4+ward, tricksters helm.

BSB black hammer, dragon helm, 5+ward

engineer, dispel scroll lore of fire (defaults to fireball)

2 khans on wolfs with spears light armour shield

skull cracker

kadii

2 magma cannons

36 guard with blunderbuss full command fire banner

List B

Lord with mask of furnace and dispel scroll, blood

BSB same

3khans other wise the same

skull cracker

kadii

2magma cannons

39 guard same.

Problems

Lord keeps blowing up in unit, putting him between magmas would make it so less damage is felt when he miscasts. Also an extra cheap throw away unit/ re directer would help alot. BUT I really like how hard my lord is to kill when some one else holds the dispel scroll. Adding 3 guys to the unit may not seem like alot but it really helps on body count.

For the feed back a few things to bare in mind guys and gals.

1Most of the list has to stay, cant get other things fast enough.

2 The changes addressed in the Problems sub heading is where I need help suggestions around that.

3 blunderbusses are not going. Just putting that out there now.

I would put Earthing Rod on your prophet, helps him not explode if you get that result

I’ve had great success with this loadout

I like list A better, put the mask on the BSB, BSB’s are made for surviving not dishing out damage.

You’re pretty deadset on blunderbuss’s but here is my 2 cents to help you maybe in the future.

I would say go to the default infernal guard, 3+ saves with 6+ parry, 5+ against flaming base? Can’t go wrong with that. But if thats all you have then you’ll be fine. Just keep in mind most tournaments are ok saying “these guys don’t have guns” so you could use them with base without the blunderbusses.

I would drop the skullcracker in place for some more drops, either fireborn,hellcannon, hobgoblins etc. also in tournament settings expect to see Lots of lore of shadow and pit of shades, the skullcracker doesnt have initiative but the Chaos dwarfs who drive it are only 2. So one spell could wipe it out instantly. (if you don’t have anything to replace it with then smash that thing into combat asap)

I recommend making atleast one warmachine hellbound to deal with ethereals

K’daai destroyer - can’t go wrong with that

I would just have your Sorcerer-Prophet hang out with the war machines for those rare occasions that you misfire with both of them. Give him a charmed shield to help him against cannons and what not. Giving the Ironcurse Icon to the BSB.

It will be worth it to find the points for a hellbound war machine or the ruby ring for your Deamonsmith so he has the potential of 2 fireballs or hopefully Fireball and Flaming Sword.

I would also attempt to find the points to give your khans the Shrieking Blade and Terrifying Mask of EEE! (a great way to redirect/divert units is getting them to run away) respectively.

I don't know about putting him by himself, thats just asking for him to get murdered. Spells, cannons, tons of ranged shots. Yes he may have charmed shield but after the first, he's a 400+ point easy target.

MLP:

Don’t forget the sorcerer prophet gets a 2+ look out out sir roll. I have used him sitting back with the war machines a few times. I like to use either fire or metal(for awesome buffs) when he does this.

CD have a much better look out sir around warmachines, just as the engineer reroll is tons better as well. Empire has to declare which machine they will help before the roll, CD just reroll as needed.

MLP:

It is worth considering that although the look out sir is 2+ that does mean your war machine is going to take the hit. Charmed shield is always worth it for your war machine smith.

Samanos:

I would give the lord a 4+ ward and a charmed shield along with the earthing rod.

Never put him between machines he is asking to be killed him and the machines like others mentioned already.

you can use your lvl 1 for that. also i agree and suggest that your bsb needs a defensive build as mentioned before.

Geist:

So I have played a few more games and have a mini tourney coming up this Sunday. I believe list A will work. To date its undaunted unbent unbowed. IE It’s yet to loose. I have played about 4 games since last update, and good news. No more blowing head off. I think I was just running the odds that time I went total power all the time. So, with that in mind I do believe it will work just fine.
