[Archive] Need to know if this store is proper

Well, this site sells vallejo stuff at a decent amount cheaper than you normally find, however I have some suspicions of the site, for one thing it seems to be only run by two people, for another the other business they claim to own (magictype supplies), seems to have no official site, and the only information I can find about it is that there are between 1 and 10 workers and yet they claim to make between 500,000 and 1 million pounds turnover a year (!), now this could easilly be a small business on the rise, but it could also quite easilly be a potential con. I’m considering buying some stuff from here (First full set of VGC paints i’ve seen for less than 120), but I NEED to know if anyone else here has had experiences with them, good, bad or indifferent so I can make a balenced decision, I know Paypal offers a degree of protection, but I really don’t want to have to go through any hassle, thanks in advance for all who reply :).

Thommy H:

It says it’s an extension of their ebay business - try finding their shop and check their feedback.

Ya, not having any luck finding them on Ebay, another thing that has me suspicious...

Hammerhand:

no clue mate. Norton doesn’ detect any fraud tho.

cornixt:

Looks cheap and cheerful (the cached version, the real site was down when I checked). They are probably running it out of a normal house. They give a proper address which is always a good sign, the fakes always use a PO box. It looks like they have given up on ebay because of the costs.

I was suspicious of the name (expecting leather accessories at least!) but it looks legit to me. use a credit card, you can always get your money back if you spend over 100.

Ingrown:

SnM: free whip with every purchase over 50?

Dracomancer:

@cornixt&Ingrown: lol, not the best thought out name in the world, is it now? :stuck_out_tongue:

@everyone who posted: Thanks for the responses and advice, i’ve decided to try them out, i’ll post up my experiences with them, be it good or bad, and since i’m feeling nice, you all recieve a slave for your troubles :hat off.

Hi All. Just came to this thread, and thought I might be able to set your mind at ease, since I have purchased from these chaps. The SnMstuff site is very new, (the S and M in question are the owners, Sean and Mel) but they have been selling on Ebay for some time (look for the seller bestauntieml, and you should be able to find the Ebay shop).

My experience with them has been very good. Fast delivery, good price and very nice people. You should be in good hands, Draco.

Cheers,

Wos

Traitor King:

What exactly are these paints?

(Advantages over GW paints ect?)

Dracomancer:

The paints are vallejo game colour (or VGC), they are usually seen as better than their GW equivalents due to:

-The fact you get more paint (17 ml as opposed to 12)

-They provide better coverage with thin layers (meaning you can build up colours very smoothly, works well for blending as well)

-They come in eyedrop bottles, meaning its easier to measure out paint mixes whereas with GW paint pots, its mostly guess work.

-They are cheaper, pot for pot, than GW paints as well.

The ONE thing GW paints are supposed to have an advantage in are the metallics, but i’ll try the vallejo ones before I pass judgement on that.

Traitor King:

Do they have inks aswel?

Dracomancer:

yeah, good ones as well, check the store under paint sets :).

grismund:

Have you got your paints yet and are they worth considering?

thanks

Dracomancer:

Oh ya, forgot to update this, my bad.

Ya, stuff arrived, took about 6-7 days, everything there and the paints work like a deam

If you need to get vallejo stuff, use these people
