[Archive] Never seen these minis!

Skink:

I was surfing the web yesterday trying to find informations on the imperial guard regiment of “pretoria” when I came into this:

http://www.adeptvs.com/forum/index.php?topic=3278.0

Now, the site is in Spanish, but these minis are ancient!!! Somebody knows from which era are they from???

GRNDL:

Look like the original late Rogue Trader era, 1989 - 1990, ish when the Realm of Chaos books came out. The books came out in 1990 IIRC.

sparrow:

The majority of these are from the Rogue Trader period (1987?), Although I’m not entirely sure some of the Chaos stuff was probably released along with the “Slaves to Darkness” and “Lost and the Damned” Realms of Chaos books.

Later in this guys thread you can also see some 2nd ed stuff.

*GRNDL beat me to it… damn making a cup of tea while posting ha ha

dncswlf:

YEAh… rogue trader…  loved the style… the sculpting… such character!!  these guys ROCK!!!

My brother has most of those Eldar pieces… nice find!

cornixt:

Ah, the old Chaos Dreadnaught - looks so silly now. And the Eldar pirates!

Skink:

Wow! I wasn’t even born:)

The Chaos Dreadnought and the Eldars look extremely strange

Thorne:

I still have five of the chaos dreadnought’s such a blast to the past this is. Love it.

Blind Berzerker:

Yup; Rogue Trader FTW! :cheers

Even though the modern sculpts have miles on the RT era ones in terms of technique and detail (they’ve come a long, long way…); as far as character goes, the oldies win out every time. at least; in my opinion… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I have a lot of those minis, and still love them. Most are re-buys, as I (to my everlasting regret) sold off (almost) my entire collection when I went to Uni. Spent most of the money on beer instead of books too… :~ . Still; they’re now stored for future reference. I have an almost complete Eldar army, which I intend to paint in the old black armour with yellow tiger-striped helmets. When the time comes that is…

I am working on an IG army some more these days though, which uses the RT era plastic Guardsmen and some of the metals (all updated with newer style equipment).

Oh; and for use with my copy of Lost Patrol, I’m also working on an RT era metal Scout Squad to replace the not so impressive plastic squad that came with it (which was apparently painted by a blind and drunken toddler to boot…)

So; Go go Rogue trader!!

Blue in VT:

:hat off

I personally think that these Figures ooozze character…much more os than the modern sculpts…very much like the Marauder CDs…and Vanilla dwarfs compared to modern dwarfs.

Here are the SoL refence to see the whole range…scroll fwd for a few pages.

These chaos Marines have become my new collecting addiction…They are not easy to find…particularly with the backpacks.

I actually think that the Dreadnought is WAY cooler than the current Chaos dreadnoughts that look like an over grown shoe box with arms and legs…So Thorne if you want to unload one of your five please let me know!

If anyone else has spares of any of these figure (not the eldar) please drop me a PM

Cheers,

Blue

Haha blue I have uploaded 7 pics already today, Another would surely kill me ! That said I would A have to climb into the attic crawlspace and retrive them in the bad paint job state they are in at the moment. Id sooner dip strip and repaint first ;) Talking about giant shoe boxes I wonder where I left my WiP scratch build capitol imperialis.

Blue in VT:

:hat off…I fully understand.

Sorry to be unclear…I meant if you wanted to sell one I would be happy to take it off your hands.

Cheers,

Blue

Weren't the Rainbow Warriors featured in a recent Imperial Armour book? I'm thinking it was the Badab war one.

AGPO:

No idea, I’ll have to take a peak

GRNDL
They are not featured in the Badab War, at least any any prominent capacity.
