[Archive] New daemon models

slev:

I really like the Horrors, a nice blend of the originals and the more recent metals. The LoC and teh “changeling” are cool (I’s like to see Flamers in the style of The Changeling).

Daemonettes are nice, if a little oddly posed, but I still don’t like the newest style (I’m a fan of the sixth-ed era ones), but the mounts are excellent.

The DP is a little “meh”, lacking the style found in any of the earlier models.

Fequiil:

awesome!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Ellimist:

Not a fan of the horrors at all. The old ones looked truly inhuman and embodied the Tzeentchian mutation and change aspects far more than the new goofy ones.

That said, the rest of the minis are vast improvements.

AGPO:

IMHO the only real issue with these models is the riders on the seeker models. They don’t look like they’re riding their mounts, more just sitting on them. The old seekers (and horrors for that matter) had much more movement.

That said the mounts, Kairos, 'crusher, changeling and DP odels are all superb. Any sign of plaguebearers and possibly heralds would be awesome

TheVoice:

I like the horrors, they hark back to the old 5th ed ones (with a flat-headed self-drumming musician) which I really liked.

Thorne:

I must admit the mounted Daemonettes I hate, I cant think of a better looking version of those than the slender versions that seams to have gone now.

AGPO:

I was thinking of starting a petition on TDL to get the Diaz daemonettes added to the collectors range. Loads of people seem to love those sculpts and I’d be happy to shell out more for my army to be able to use them.

Kered:

I doubt a petition would make much difference but I am fond of the old daemonettes.

Grimstonefire:

When I get to see the DP sprues, I may buy one to make into a vermin lord.  But as DP go I prefer the Belakor model by far, which imo is one of the best character models GW have made.

Whilst I'm noramlly the single most sceptical person when it comes to online petitions to GW, they have said the 'Collector's Range' will be determined largely by popular demand. Given the price those daemonettes go for on ebay I'd say they have that...

Swissdictator:

Were the diaz Daemonettes the 6E metal ones the new ones replaced? Those were the best Daemonettes I have ever seen.

AGPO:

Yup those are the ones. It’s a real shame GW stopped selling old models via mail order. I daresay if you made the old seekers available again they’d outsell half the current collectors range by a mile

Hashut’s Blessing:

I’d say that they’d outsell a fair few of the current ranges as well, if priced fairly

I agree that it seems that they have just cut off the tabards and but the daemonettes onto the steeds, as though they think that they’re standing and not riding. A simple pair of stirrups or something would’ve helped with that…

AGPO:

I think with bit of reposing on the legs the new seekers are pretty good models. I’ll certainly be using the steed in my Chaos Warriors army. THe last edition just set the bar so high.

Patrikson:

Hmmmm, i like the horrors, changelings and khorne juggernaut dude but…

I don’t know about the daemonettes, daemon prince or the lord of change…

The daemonettes look less like females and more like males to me, the daemon prince although it looks cool i hope it doesn’t replace the cool 40k one that has a gun and the lord of change looks really good except for having a head for an arm…

Shakhorth:

I like 'em all except for the new daemon prince. Somehow he just strikes me as being to much 40kish. No doubt all the daemons will be used in both warhammer and 40k, but they could have tried to give the daemon prince a more neutral armour.

Has anyone seen any plastic Nurgle figures? Seems unlikely those would be forgotten in the 2nd wave release of the daemons.

Thommy H:

I’m 99% sure that that photo is of the 40K build of the generic plastic Daemon Prince model. There are parts to make a Fantasy version - it appears in the Warriors of Chaos book.

Nazhur:

Wow, somehow I missed allt hose models. Nice to finally see them. I got around 2000p of nurgle daemon in 40k (play a mono god list), sadly they didn´t release any nurgle daemons, thats a shame. But specially those pink horrors look nice

Patrikson:

After looking at my warhammer reading material from late 2008/early 2009 i just noticed that two of the new daemon princes ((Black 40k’ish one and the awesome pale pink/white one)) appeared in white dwarf issue 348 december 2008 on page 100 XD

DAMN YOU GW, CLAIMING SOMETHING IS NEW WHEN YOU HAD IT IN YOUR STAFF’S WOC ARMIES MORE THEN TWO YEARS AGO D:

XD

…Also sorry if this is pointless, just thought i’d mention it XD

The Deamons have been depicted in armybooks since about that time. It is shown in the WoC armybook from 2008. So everyone has known it existed and been waiting for it really. I can't recall if we had an "explanation" to why it took them so long. But usually it is issues with making the mold. The stuff they put in the armybook is actually quite often resin casts and not the "real" thing.
