[Archive] New Forgeworld Daemonsmiths

Coopervisor:

So glad postage was only £2.16. Postage on the Infernal Guard was pretty overpriced.

Pyro Stick
Postage is a % of total cost. So does vary a lot.

I know, it was something like 12%. For the infernal guard postage came out at almost £5.

I went to Warhammer World to collect my infernal guard, worked out cheaper. I think I'll be doing the same again for my next order as it's about a 45 minute drive along the A50.

Just for comparison sake, the Vampire Count Lords and Heroes (non-mounted) are being sold (Finecast) between $15 and 18 a piece. So these Chaos Dwarfs are almost half the price and I'm sure cast with better quality control. Is it getting to the point where Forgeworld models are going to be a bargain compared to GW models from the main studio? Maybe the end of the world really is coming. :-)

Good idea to cut out the shipping. I decided to check out Warhammer World and ran the store locator to see if there were any stores closer to my location than the one store I do know of. Listed were many stores that weren't specifically a Warhammer store, which is what I figured would be needed. So does anyone know if I can order whatever minis I want directly through the store to completely cut out any shipping costs? I also found one that is EXACTLY along the route to my friend's house in NH, so if this works I'll be able to cut out the tax as well!

I'm pretty sure you can only buy forgeworld stuff online or at warhammer world.

ryanamandaanna:

If you live by a bunker you can have it shipped there for free. I just ordered mine and went ahead and got a second magma cannon while I was at it…

Animatone:

So pumped… Can only imagine what the Bull Centaurs will look like?

I admit that I'm clueless when it comes to their naming conventions. What qualifies as a "bunker"? Assuming that I have a nearby bunker, I would need to pay online at ForgeWorld, but it would be shipped to the bunker that I indicate?

I also simply don't understand their store finder...I know that there is a Games Workshop store in Holyoke, MA, but when I do the search it doesn't show up--either as a "Games Workshop Hobby Center" or as an independent retailer. Now I have to check to see if it closed.

ryanamandaanna:

I think there are only a handful of bunkers in the US; there is one right by me in Baltimore and another in Chicago; I’m fairly certain that there is one on the West Coast as well…

Xander:

Very awesome! Some character at last!

Baggronor:

Win.

My wallet is on its last legs. The new vamps have taken a heavy toll and these guys are about to deliver the killing blow…

vulcanologist:

Oh no…just received my bale Taurus today and now these come out! My wallets going to take a battering this month!

Parish:

awesome models ! Hope FG will sell them well !

By the way seeing so gorgeous and quite cheap model , just guess we can have for the K’daai and our lovely Bull centaurs :] !

Bassman:

Ooooh, my favourite Daemonsmith is out! And he is not alone, two more secret miniatures I’ve never seen before.

Now we want Bull Centaurs and Destroyer!!!

Borador:

Is it me or do the “other two” (I suppose by Lopez) look a little bit sloppier?

Edit: scratch that notice
The models are well made, there might be a few tiny “rougher areas” but that could just be the picture. I know I couldn’t do it any better for sure.

Hashut’s Blessing:

Looking very nice. To me, all three faces have different looks - but they still work well together to me.

The one on the right looks a lot like Drazoath the Ashen (at first I thought it was him on foot) and I think is the sorcerer-prophet. The one on the left has a small hat/helm and a bladed staff, so I reckon a daemonsmith (which aren’t bad in combat, so the severed head isn’t out of place). The middle one has a big hat and a massive hammer, so I’d have said he was the Infernal Castellan - that being said, he’s wearing an apron (as an engineer in Warhammer may well do when working with daemonic furnaces: the Hellsmith is) and, as someone said, has the same hat as the hellsmith: combined with being shown pictures at the same time, this one could actually be the daemonsmith.

Personally, I think a weapon swap would clear up the confusion, but it’s ultimately just some suggestions for what the models can be used as and to avoid saying you’re buying three of the same character type (which they could be - easily all are appropriate daemonsmiths, sorcerer-prophets or infernal castellans).

Bottom line - very nice pieces, will get them, may wait until payday.

P.S. 12% shipping in the UK and 15% to the RoW or pick them up at Warhammer World (not normal stores) for free.

cornixt:

I like them a lot, but I’m still reeling at the price. That’s like a whole unit! Hoping for that lottery win, must start buying tickets first though.

Have you not seen the new VC character prices?! These are of much higher quality in my opinion as for a much fairer price I would say! £6 each for a resin sculpt of that quality I will happily pay!

Kronus:

Adds to next FW bulk purchase.
