[Archive] New Necrons

Pyro Stick:

These pictures were leaked a few hours ago. See the new models here:

I really like the new models. The vehicles not so much but the infantry are awesome. ill definately be picking up a few for my necron army if they arent finecast/too expensive.

Nebuchandnezzar:

I love the look of the new snipers, thinking of starting 40K again but no army has really appealed to me so far, and if the snipers are troops i will be a happy chappy

warh:

that transport is kind of like a droid MTT from star wars

Pyro Stick:

Beasts of war just added a picture of the new Flayed Ones to their facebook:

edit: aannd heres the Immortals

It looks like the gauss rods have been removed from the new models.

Thorne:

Kinda disappointed with the lack of green acrylic rods. I loved that detailing on the last incarnation. What is that now 3 different versions of warriors immortals and I guess destroyers too but I have yet to see any. Not to mention is it me or do the new sniper models have a almost geth mass effect look to them ?

rabotak:

mmmh juicy new targets!

i like the new models, especially the vehicles (influences come and go), it’s only the immortals that don’t really meet my expectations. but a nice (and bitter needed) release nontheless, can’t await to see the rules…there are weird rumours around…

Thommy H:

These are completely sufficient. You wanted Necrons? Here are some. They are different in some ways to the Necrons you already have. Please give us your money.

Time of Madness:

I’m impressed, it looks like they re-did the entire line of models! Can’t say I’ve seen them do that before with an army…

They did do that with the dark eldar, I guess they want to replace a lot of the old metal models with plastic or finecast.

lostmember:

They still don’t work for me as an aesthetic. I love the idea of them as a race, with their star gods etc…but are they scary? They look like what would happen if Apple tried to make humanoid robots but only had pictures of Sarah Jessica Parker and Jimmy Hill to go off.

inkpwn:

They don’t scream ‘unrelenting army of the robo-undead’ to me, I don’t like the transport idea at all. Its kind of like if jason vorhees goti n a tractor and then started the chase for teenage slaughter at 5mph its just wrong.

I’m also missing the green acrylic rods.

Da Crusha:

I always liked the way necrons looked but my biggest problem with them was the leg position. now they are in various running positions and look way better IMO. good thing I never got around to collecting them and doing the walking necron conversion work.

vulcanologist:

Hmmm… Decent update I guess. Are necrons really so popular to justify such a release??

Thommy H:

They’re only unpopular at the moment because they’ve been neglected for so long. No one played Dark Eldar until the new book came out either.

Pyro Stick:

Borador:

Looking good.

Really got to resist starting that Steam Punk Necron army now. That’s gonna be tough…

GRNDL:

I’m going to be that guy and say I don’t like them. They are all too dynamic - no longer robotic to me. I feel they nailed what Necrons are in the last Codex and their model range. Necrons should be relentless, slow and hard to kill - not dynamic at all. These models look too much like Dark Eldar range in terms of style and approach to me. Not sure what to say about the vehicles. They do look Necron-ish, but kinda goofy too. I feel like they’ve gone back to the old “flying armchair” school of Necron design.

Baggronor:

The Immortals look cool. I think the old Flayed Ones were better, they looked creepy. These look a bit comical somehow.

The skimmer thing reminds me of the Resurrection Hub from BSG for some reason. Looks quite cool.

Yeah, I thought they worked best as an eerie army of emotionless drones led by awesome Star Gods - the last set were closer to that. That full page illustration of Nightbringer looming over a load of Necrons in the old book kinda summed them up to me.

Hashut’s Blessing:

My real problem is that they are still stooped. It looks like they are hunched, when they are made of metal, so no sagging due to age because of their construction. Otherwise, not really looked properly and not fussed either way.

cornixt:

They just make me think of General Grievous now.
