The Coven Throne/Mortis Engine is a plastic kit, not Finecast. Is it important? :o

Imo it makes no real difference!
Only the diffence between metal and non-metal is for me relevant! ;)

Actually I think it is ethreal Fast Cav and they give D6 ST5 to any unit they pass through. I'm not one to cry broken but...really? Really??? What is so bad about that? If you're reacting like this before you've seen their points and context, it does look like crying broken ;) Screamers have a similar ability, do they not?
Thommy H:
Is it important? :oNo, you just referred to it as resin, that's all. I thought you might have assumed it was Finecast.

Not to sound dry but Resin is Plastic
I think resin is a bit heavier.

Awwww I’m in love.
The most sexy vampire minis GW ever made. Love the black knights, the coven throne / mortis engine and what they did with Krell. The hexwraiths not so much, they just overdid it with the green flames IMO, but the rest is brilliant! GW must have heard me telling a friend a few weeks ago that I was looking into starting a vampires army in spring. ^^

The coven throne/mortis engine is one of the coolest models i've seen in a while but i'm not looking forward to seeing the price. It doesn't look like it will be cheap. On the second last picture there is a price (£36) and i think that is for the Coven throne/mortis engine, seeing that the last word is ending on 'engine'.

Hi
Just to say I have that White Dwarf. A newsagent in Sydney was selling it. Good to get it ahead of official release date. Has rules for the new ‘super chariots’. Really fantastic kit, especially the Mortis Engine (backwards looping banshees ftw). Good white dwarf isue. The ghorgon article is of interest as I just got one and it contains the ‘Civil War’ expansion rules.
Jerv annoys me with his shilling in the Battle Report (he plays VC’s) but then writes an interesting Standard bearer regarding why writing the rules gives him a disadvantage when playing. Also addresses the ‘playtesting’ issue.
Battle report is a scenario of Manfred’s VC’s vs High elves. Has a fair few fluff extracts from new VC bok. No army lists given and a ‘quick’ report but i loved the scenario read. Good to see some fluff back in White Dwarf even if it’s leeched from the army book
Hex wraiths do 1 St 5 hit each on the pass through. A regiment of 5 with champ is 10 long beard rangers with greatweapons/throwing axes. Will cause problems, but nothing a magic missile can’t solve.
It seems like only the general conveys the ‘march’ bubble, but all ‘vampiric’ units including the flying Vargheists can march.
Blood knights are cheaper. What was prior 325 pts is now 285. I like.
The new Coven kit is smaller than a Terrorghiest but only just fits on its base. Really love the spirits. In game they do 2d6 random attacks. I don’t actually like the non spirit parts of the model nearly as much (like the Necromancer) but the modelling opportunities the kit offers are massive. The ‘locked remains’ part of the mortis engine is cool also. Really really eye catching figure. The dwarf issue has a paint guide also, which is good, but it’s not for the Eavy Metal scheme. Still looks damn good though (blue ethereals)
Melee vamps much more viable now with the ‘hunger’ rule. Really like that. If vamp causes one or more kills in CC roll a D6. On a 6 it regains a wound lost previously. Nice touch and fluffy.
The new Krell model is AMAZING!!!. Liked the old model, loved the new one. Just wish he had both horns. His axe is exceptional.
Henreich is back in finecast. Don’t like the Isabella paint jobt at all (must be the hair). Model is … ok.
Possible to run Necromancer lord now for undead fans. Some people will be very happy.
Hated the cover art at first (didn’t get the new ogre book because I didn’t like the cover) but it’s actually grown on me a fair bit. It’s not that bad. Some of the full colour art from the new VC book looks amazing. Mannfred on Zombie Dragon pwning skaven and Grave Guard hacking down dwarfs. I sense the VC book will be brilliant (aesthetically) judging from the 2 white dwarf art pics.

Advance orders are up.
Ordered the book and I bought White Dwarf and a Terrorgheist today from my local GW to go with the 60 Zombies I got for Christmas. I don’t know where I’m going to put all this stuff, but that’s a problem for another day.
Honestly, it’s getting to the point where I might as well just post GW my debit card and tell them to go nuts.
warh:
new vampire’s already? or am I getting old
vulcanologist:
If VCs weren’t my son’s army I’d be very very tempted!
Baggronor:
I don't know where I'm going to put all this stuff, but that's a problem for another day.I just stopped thinking about it. I have piles of unopened stuff. It will get used one day... just not today...
Castellan:
Oh gosh, I am so tempted to get the Vampire Lord. He looks so cool to paint.

Speaking of amazing models. With the plastic Wight King i really think Games Workshop smacked the ball out of the park.
Heh, i’m tempted to do a vampire counts army myself. I already have the Blood Knights and a whole bunch of the old ‘big’ Vampire Counts Skeletons along with around 4 vampire models.
With the ‘new’ skeleton kit, grave guard, terrorgheist, wraiths and now all these new crazy goodies I really think Vampire Counts are one of the very best looking armies Games Workshop has and that’s saying something. The Hexwraith/black knight kit really puts the old Black knights to shame.
I wonder if Forgeworld had advance notice that new Vampire Counts were coming out but that there was no new BSB model when they were making theirs.
I remember back when it was the Varghulf that was the ‘big centrepiece model’. Now the poor thing would struggle to be noticed.
I just started reading Zombie Slayer today. It’s all about Krell and Co so seems like perfect timing for me
