[Archive] nostalgia'88 paint line (old gw inspired paints)

Poison:

Just an informative (slightly advertising) post:

Inspired by the classic paint range of 1988! An oldhammer favourite! Bottled in the old style flip-top 20ml pot!

After an extensive research and numerous trial and error tests, we have managed to replicate those so missed paints of our childhood.

Perfect for reliving those great times. At least 99% colour matching compared to the original 1988 release paints. We have even matched the pots, the smell, feel and consistency of the original line.

The first set to be released is the Creature Set:

#10 - Swamp Brown

#11 - Rotting Flesh

#12 - Orc Brown

#13 - Hobgoblin Orange

#14 - Elf Grey

#15 - Spearstaff Brown

#16 - Worm Purple

#17 - Goblin Green

#18 - Chainmail

Cloister:

Goblin Green returns! Got any pics of the pots?

TheHoodedMan:

Wow, just discovered this!

edit: …and ordered

cornixt:

Coat D’Arms paint is still available and is the same old paint, although I have no idea if they are sold in sets that match the old Citadel sets.

TheHoodedMan:

I really hope that the colors are like the old ones but with a good consistency and flow. I’ll report.

Poison:

after the success of the Creature Paint set, Monster Paint set and Colour paint sets are now offered.

So here is the complete list of paint sets available now (also sold as single paints too):

Please note, expert paint set (inks) will be on offer in a few weeks.

Admiral:

Inks? As in having the exact strong lustre as the old inks?! The equivalents which another company have on offer are nowhere near being the same as the strong, old inks. I’ve been looking for this for a time.

I believe we have matched the inks (as well as the paints) quite well both in colour and in strength. We applied new paint technology though in order to offer a product that will be enjoyable today (i.e. more flexible film, better acrylic medium, highest quality pigments, improved coverage, perfected metallic colours that dont go off or clump etc etc). Keep in mind that the samples we have are 30 years old and memory sometimes plays tricks though....

Admiral:

Good to hear! I’ve never been able to replicate the strong lustruous shading on my older paintjobs, with another company’s inks that were said to be the same. Looking forward to this release.

Fuggit Khan:

Matched inks too?

This is good news, the older inks were better than todays offerings, they had better consistency and color.

I’ll have to look into getting some of these new inks  :)

Brilliant thAnks to all involved
