[Archive] Old or new hobgoblins?

They look like the classic metal ones but very blurry.

Skink:

They are the old ones:). That pic was taken during FW’s open day. It was the showcase table for LoA.

gIL^:

What makes it even crazier there the same hobgoblins from the 4th edition armybook/battlereports.

BeeZharr:

The actual same models? They must look odd with the old school paint jobs next to the new stuff…

Actually I don't think so. If I remember correctly the 4th edition Hobgoblins are sitting safely in Warhammer Worlds museum. They had yellow/blue clothes and red hoods. The guys in the pic above (if memory serves me well), were wearing brown clothes and riding 40k wolves.

tjub:

These look rather nice as old hobgobbos as well, but maybe more for the classic looking CDs out there…

Err.... What have I said?

cornixt:

Didn’t they sell off a load of their old painted models that were used in White Dwarf?

Doombeard:

Ive been taking a look around at cheap options recently, and I really like the Moria goblin archers from LOTR. You can pick up stacks of them for cheap, they are plastic, rank up ok, and have some nice armour on them. The warg riders would also make great wolf riders. I think I may go down that route, just thinking it over at the moment

Only problem is they're tiny; hobgoblins are supposed to be between goblins and orcs in height/size, but the Moria goblins are smaller than WH goblins, so probably aren't suitable.

Heresy Miniatures have some nice goblinson his Kickstarter that could work as hobgoblins but they're 3 for £7, so probably not cheap enough for you.

BeeZharr:

I’d just be happy if they just recast the old ones… For me the kit bashed storm vermin/gobbos are the best option.

Bloodbeard:

I’m gonna use fireforge miniatures Mongols for hobgoblins. I’ll use dark elf spear tips for weapons. Stick on Admirals nice heads to them.

I written a firm that sells stuff for casting, so in a near future I should start casting.

Doombeard:

I emailed gw customer services the other day asking if they could do a re-run. Nobody even bothered to reply. Not very nice

The size of the Moria goblins doesnt bother me too much personally, I know they aren’t correct fluff wise but if FW can’t be bothered to even make them then I’m not too bothered about their fluff they wrote. I just want something that looks cool and nasty & I like the Moria ones. They suit the heavily armoured look of the infernal guard quite nicely. If Bloodbeard can sort out Admirals awesome hobgoblin heads then I’ll use those for sure. Mantic are the other option for cheap, but they have big noses I dont like so much, makes them look comical. The Fleabag Riders are super cool though =)
