Grimstonefire:

That is exceptional painting, don’t get me wrong, but do people really pay that much for painted models!?

I would if I had the money, sadly I am a poor mother f...r ;(

snowblizz:

The worst thing about it? They slap a very good paint job on a mediocre model. And I’m not meaning it a as a criticism of the basic sculpt, but if you do that level of model, hide the friggin seams in the plastic model noobs! Otherwise it’s just putting lipstick on a pig.

The overall style of painting is one I’ve never really appreciated. I’ve seen it done, quite often in European Golden Deamon, I actually call it “French style” because the French GDs were predominantly that way. It often clashes horribly with gaming models IMNSHO. And I find I don’t particularly enjoy showcase models painted like that either funnily enough.

sam585:

I have to agree with snowblizz. Really good curio case quality, but I would not game with. I am wondering why they did not fill in some gaps of their models, like the harbinger mount face.

The bloodthirst is awesome, until you scroll down and realize he is on his tippy toe balancing on a flame like a music box ballerina. Nothing wrong with that, but it takes away from a lot of the model. I think if we took a saw to that miniature and reposed the legs and hooves we would have something much more fearsome.

Doombeard:

I often see his stuff on cmon and some of it looks good. I saw some great Fenrisian wolves painted up as dire wolves a while ago all black and green glowing eyes that looked pretty bad ass. A lot of his stuff in these auctions looks hurried and not much care gone into it, like the airbrushed Arkhan and Neferata look like they had about 30 mins of painting time gone into them. Maybe he’s fallen on hard times or been a bit rushed recently. Life of a commission painter must be hard

I don’t know how you had such an experience of the french Games Day but:

FRANCE - Demon Winner, the unofficial Golden Demon website

Nothing related to what we have here.

“Propainters” mainly use Aerograph, it’s cost effective, very fast and allow to have a smooth transition and make a “good” effect even though I feel it looks unatural and really terrible.

They should not refer to themselves as Pro unless they win some awards. Just 'Airbrush Painter' instead ;)

cornixt:

I look at those and just think of the airbrushing, whereas with regular painted stuff I actually feel amazed by it.

Parish:

Yes I do agree with both of you guys. :frowning:

Aaaaaaaaaah that site is filled with that stuff!

:runsinpanic:

Always remember "well-painted" and what I like are two different things.
