[Archive] Painted IG and converted hobgoblins (sick kit-bashing)

Gammal:

Hey guys!

So ive been lurking around these forums for almost a year now, and with the release of CD from FW and also the new army book, I decided to show you guys what I have been working on.

I Hope you like it! :cheers

Lets start out with the meat, the hobgoblins.

These are probably the most expensive unit I have ever made, but man did they turn out awesome!

Banner bearer

Champion: The thought with the bear trap was that, one of the ways to get to be boss in the hobgoblin society would be to simply stab the boss in the back, and take the title.

But this guy has figured out a way to stay the boss for a lot longer!

SO here is the CD´s I have been working on. They came out a bit dark, maybe il put up a few more once the sun is back up.

YARR!

zobo1942:

Those hobgoblins look great! It looks like you’ve got Stormvermin bodies, Gnoblar heads, Dark elf arms and Marauder Shields?

I’d love to hear what parts you used!

Nicodemus:

Hobgoblins turned out stellar!!! Wow. I’m all over this for my hobgobling project!!

IG look good too

Gammal:

You are quite correct! Nice spotting.

I also used some gut plates from Ogres.

The trap is also from an ogre pack, im building a slave ogre as a unit filler for these guys as well

Abecedar:

Yep they do look very impressive and have to say I like them very much and I’m a bit of a (citadel) traditionalist

Bolg:

That is one cool way of building your own hobgoblins! Oh and welcome to the forum (:

I’ll be keeping my eye on this army blog.

Da Crusha:

ohhh, really like the Hobgoblins. it makes me want to snap all my gnoblar heads off and start converting some guys just like these.

Shef:

those are some super awesome hobos! thats the way FW should do them

zobo1942:

Where did you source all the dark elf arms? I can find the other parts at other bits suppliers, but can’t seem to find anyone who sells those.

Care to share?

Gammal:

Actually, I just bought all the boxes… So 4 boxes Dark Elf Black Ark Corsairs.

And all the other bits as well… Since I didn’t have any.

So sorry, there is no cheap way out, at least there wasn’t for me

zobo1942:

I’m thinking about using plague monk arms… How do you think that will look?

There is a cheap way out. Ebay has corsair arm bits for sale.

RTMaitreya:

Buy the arms separately (you get them for $0.50 each or so), or just buy the box, strip the arms, then trade the box ready for handbows to a dark elf player for other stuff. Most DE guys like the handbows anyway (equivalent game performance, but look cooler).

ryanamandaanna:

Quite inspiring; I just bought bits to do hobgoblins like this.

20 Bow/Shield

20 Double hand weapon

20 hand weapon/Shield

curse you and your inspiring ways!

Baggronor:

Those Hobgoblins are epic :o Looks like you’ve found the best way to go!

I also like the turquoise, looks really cool.

I can find the other parts at other bits suppliers, but can’t seem to find anyone who sells those.
I may be able to spare a few sword and dagger arms from my DE leftovers. PM me if you want 'em

Gammal:

Thanks guys!

Im happy I could inspire you to make your gobbos look cooler!

Just be sure to give me some cred once u post pics of your own

Gammal:

Hey guys! Just thought I should update you on the progress of my gobbos.

So here is my beta test of colors:

I also made a blue ish one, il post once its done.

Let me know what you think!

zobo1942:

Really nice work. An entire horde of those is gonna look GREAT! Care to describe your colours / process?

ryanamandaanna:

I like the realistic palette you went with. If you wanted to give a nod to the old hobgoblins, you ought to consider making the hobbos with hoods have red hoods.

Admiral:

Excellent Hobgoblins! Good painting, by the way, but why don’t you base your miniatures before painting?
