[Archive] Painting question concerning a dragon

Zanko:

I need your support!

I bought this dragon from Warploque Miniatures some time ago and till now I have no idea how to paint the model! :frowning:

What paint scheme should / could I choose?

RTMaitreya:

You need to paint it in colors that are complementary to your army, of course! If you have black, red, and brass units, then make him a black and red dragon, with spots/streaks of red going through the black, and one little splash of complementary color (like a dirty cream underbelly, painted like your leather or flayed hides of your main army, for example).

It’s a great piece, with lots of paintability, so make sure you do it justice! That said, fielding a unified force looks so very nice on the field.

And here I was going to say the complete opposite! LOL They don’t breed dragons and hydras and whatnot to colour-match your army standard. This is your chance to bring in some extra colour into your army so take advatage of the opportunity! It’s a beautiful model so paint him a green colour that compliments your Hobgoblins. Or fiery red with black stripes to make him fearsome. Use something on the base to tie him into the rest of your army (a dead Hobgoblin under his foot that got a little to close, the same lava effect you use on your other bases, a Hashut rune stone, etc). Very nice model!!

I like the idea of a species of Fire Drakes living in the tunnels and caves around the Chaos Dwarf region. Looks like a great model for a cave-dragon.

Abecedar:

paint him/her pink. looks tough enough that no one will be game to call it a sissy.

I’m with Grimbold, use it to provide other colours to your army.
