[Archive] perfect Daemon Bots models?

CheTralfara:

So I’m thinking… if there were Daemon bots in the CD army list… they would be more like daemon magic technology… like a Khornate Juggernaut… rather than forged by the CDs… but it could work either way… since now they are daemon binders… Anyway, with a slight bit of conversion (weapon change, bull horns, and spikey bitz), I think these just may be the PERFECT models for Hashut’s Daemon Botz!

You see, the part that has me in love with them, is the HOOFS!

Eventually I am going to make a very small Daemons of Hashut warband…

The purpose of them will be to ally with my CD army… SOOOOO

what rules to use for these Daemon Botz? well Flamers of Tzeentch of course! (give them flared flame cannons on their arms!)… Daemons botz with only missle weapons for arms would naturally suck at close combat (like flamers)… Hashut botz would definitely shoot flames (i think they should at least)… + the ward save doubles as magic protection… and is somewhat fluffy cuz of the botz being nearly pure metal.

Is it true that in GTs you can use units from other armies (outside of the list you are using) with the counts-as rule?

I can’t wait to pick up a box of these and start converting them!

p.s. don’t tell me they are too high tech for fantasy! Look at the CD leveler boat in Man O War… CDs are pretty HIGH TECH!

Godbob and his jolly rogers:

They are to high tech but that dosen’t mean that you can’t make then less I like how you’re doing this but try and get rid of the helmets maybe a bull head

CheTralfara:

yeah, they would definitely need a gun change… are there any kind of mechanical bull-like heads that could be used?

In any case, now that i’ve found “epic” killa kans and ork dreadnauts, i’m gonna use them as daemon bot swarms instead

Thanks! I was contemplating scratch building similar things to these to represent “bull golems”. I found a trial list on a website via a google search, and saw that bull golems are smaller less dangerous versions of a kolossus’s.

Based on this idea I wrote my own fluff last night, Here’s the simple version.

Bull golems are armored hulks that have a daemon bound within them. Once the amour is complete a suitable slave is taken, and chained within, then a daemon is invited into the slave’s body. the slave is thus sacrificed to bring the daemon into the warhammer realm. While the daemon is still weak from the recent possession the summoner’s and forger place a bull skull infused with magic to bind the daemon to the suite, the skull also restrains the daemon and makes it ruly.

Feel free to work off of that fluff if you wish.

As far as your option go (in my opinion). I would lose anything that looks hi tech, this includes the weapons, slice off the antennas. I assume there’s some kind of jet pack on the back of each figure, cover these up and slap on some exhaust pipes (for the steam punk look). Add some trimming with green stuff, or rivets. the big slit down the center of the model should have latches or something that looks like it is holding it together.

Any one have a photo of these guys near an Ogre for size comparisons?

@ Servius, I did not know that there were guide lines layed out for converting. I do not see why you would get thrown out for a battle wagon based on two land raiders, seeing as in white dwarfs there had been land raiders converted into battle wagons and scratch built ones, varying in size. You could have claimed that it need to be so large because it needed the space to carry 20 orks (is it 20?). (Interiors of land raiders and rhinos would no way be able to fit 10 space marines and are very out of scale.

CheTralfara:

I understand and have read those rules before, but what I don’t understand is if you are allowed to have a unit in your army “count as” a unit from a DIFFERENT army book than the one you are using. If so, that would allow a Chaos Dwarf army using the normal Dwarf armybook, to take hobgoblins using goblin rules… Is this not allowed?
