[Archive] Picolo's Big Hat Army

Ubertechie:

btw do u think using imageshack for posting photos OK, or would u guys prefer me to use some other method?

Piccolo
There is no preference use whatever works for you - personally i use photobucket but that's because I already had an account there - as long as people can see the images thats all that really matter

Kera foehunter:

that cool !! did you get a good deal on them Piccolo??

Piccolo:

not really, i usually overpay for CD’s. I buy them on a Polish ebay-like site and since CD’s are quite rare in Poland I usually overpay. On the other hand shipment is much cheaper within the country than from abroad. I don’t have an ebay account yet but I’m thinking of getting one, however from what I see from ebay auction descriptions, many people are reluctant to ship their minis abroad.

Ubertechie:

Picolo

You should not have a problem with ebay and shipping to Poland - if the seller doesn’t list international shipping it is worth sending them an email to ask if they are willing to. Most people are more than willing to oblige.

People are not keen on shipping stuff from ebay to Italy due to things often being lost (or claiming to have been lost in the Italian postal system).

I have brought stuff and sold stuff to all corners of the globe on ebay and only had 2 problems in several hundred transactions

Zanko:

I still call the big hats, new..  Of course, I've played Fantasy longer than most of the cats and dolls here have been alive.. going on 20 years now..

two_heads_talking
O.k. - THT you are a little bit older than me (3 years), but I also collect and paint minis longer than 20 years! So don´t boast to much :D:P:D

@Picolo: I´m also buying for a quite long time regulary on eBay and haven´t had any problems till now! :)

I thought I was empathizing with you.. on that note, I'd be guessing you aren't one of the cats or dolls I been playing longer than has been alive. lol:hat off

Piccolo:

3 more warriors to join my army for the glory of Hashut and the Chaos Dwarf Empire:hashut:

And here are pics of some of my Black Orcs:

They need some serious repainting and maybe a new color scheme. I want to make their skin a bit more green (there almost black now) and shade it. I also don’t like the black horns on the models in front, makes the unit look to dark. The orcs at the back on the other hand are too colorful. I’m gonna try to come up with a color scheme that will be between those two extremes. But that’s distant future, I have to work on all the unpainted dwarfs and hobgobos first:hat

Swissdictator:

It warms my heard to see some classic CDs. Especially ones using classic O&G as well so it’s completely period!

Awesome to see, and nice work on the Black Orcs.

Kera foehunter:

I alway love that style Black orc ! great painting on them Killer banner Too

Sojourn:

just don’t change that banner! I love the style of the image. it has a nice stylization to it. and the unit looks good, but if you want to change it, I encourage it.

Will you choose a scheme similar to your dwarfs? or maybe the opposite scheme? though they’re a distant project… keep it up!

Piccolo:

Long time no updates (im really lazy) but i finally managed to paint the blunderbuss unit. I also started my hobgoblin bolt thrower crew. I’ll probably be using the goblin machines for them as i dont have the original ones.

So here are the pictures of the blunderbusses and the hobgobbo crew (not very good quality, maybe i’ll post some better ones later on). Enjoy :cheers

Loki:

Great paint job on the big hats, looking forward to seeing some more soon

The Brain:

Nice army. It is always nice to see another big hat player, especially with old school models, they are the best in my opinion. You’ll have to give us know how your games are going. :hat off

Border Reiver:

NIcely painted army there - love the models (I may be biased here) and I have to say that I am quite jealous of your ability with the eyes - mine never turn out that good.

Warhammerman:

Your one of the few people I’ve seen make a chaos dwarf army look good with bright colors. Keep up the excellent work.

Zanko:

Great paint job! Especially the eyes of your CDs! :hat off

The paint scheme is for my liking too bright and too colourful but that’s my personal insignificant opinion!

                    :hashut

Piccolo:

ok, the hobgoblins are complete so here are the pics

Actually I finished them some days ago but only now I got round to making pics.

I was gonna post pics of the almost finished Lammasu too but they turned out so bad that i decided not to. But dont worry i will make new pics in a couple of days and maybe they will turn out better:cheers. Im currently having problems with printing the banners, im using a laser printer and the ink seems to peel off when the paper is bent. Apart from that the Lammasu only need some finishing touches like gluing the monster to the rider.

As for the paint scheme i find that colorful armies look better on the battlefield. But that’s a mater of personal preference.

EDIT:

Another update: the Lammasu.

I glued all the pieces together and i consider it finished. here are the pics (some of the pics are blurry, sry bout that, I’m not a very good photographer:mad)

Piccolo:

a small update. I just finished painting a CD hero so here he is

Loki:

Great work on the hero and the Lammasu love the fact that your going with the classic banners  keep up the great work

Piccolo:

I was away for quite a while and it seems that imageshack removed my pictures so I had to upload them somewhere else and edit some of the older posts. There might be some pictures misplaced or missing since I don’t have them anymore.

Here is an update on the blunderbusses:

I added some Russian Alternative Dwarves of the Fire Canyon minis to the original big hats to make a bigger regiment and I think they look pretty well together.
