[Archive] Picolo's Big Hat Army

Slavemaster Hod:

I really like how those turned out. It’s also great to see how well those RA minis fit in with the other big hats.

Zanthrax:

Looking great bro keep the updates coming

Willmark:

I was away for quite a while and it seems that imageshack removed my pictures so I had to upload them somewhere else and edit some of the older posts. There might be some pictures misplaced or missing since I don't have them anymore.

Here is an update on the blunderbusses:

I added some Russian Alternative Dwarves of the Fire Canyon minis to the original big hats to make a bigger regiment and I think they look pretty well together.

Piccolo
8 years as away "quite a while".... ;)

Piccolo:

What can I say, time flies.

Since Games Workshop decided to cancel Warhammer I’ve switched to Kings of War, so you’ll be seeing some non-big hat units here as well, since I’m too lazy to convert them.

Ok, here are some things I’ve been working on recently:

My Greater Obsidian Golem (It doesn’t really look obsidian so I just call it a Greater War Golem:P)

My Dragon Fire Team

And my Abyssal Grotesque Champion (represented by a Dragon Ogre)

The lighting on the golem wasn’t very good, in reality he looks better:s

Abecedar:

They are coming together very nicely.

And I will be stealing the idea to use Dragon Ogres as Grotesques. I had no idea what to use for them.

Jackswift:

Your army is building fast and well, and I really like the use of so many different models from different companies. Well done!

Willmark:

Piccolo
I'm not condemning, merely pointing it out.

Carcearion:

I have been eye-balling that very same War-Golem for ages! Cool miniature, great to finnaly see it where it belongs among Chaos Dwarves!

If you dont mind my asking how wide is its stance? could it be squeezed onto a 50mm?

Carcearion
It will never fit on a 50mm. My base is 90x75. It could probably be 50mm deep, but I made it 75 to be in line with the original base (the original Obsidian Golem is 75x75). The Grendel model is very wide however so I needed a base at least 90mm wide to fit it.

Carcearion:

Thanks for the tip on that one! still well worth picking up the model, its impressive size is strong selling point as much as anything else.

Fuggit Khan:

Great work! And I love the old school green flocked bases. Such wonderful nostalgia from when GW was at the pinnacle of it’s game.

Your dragon fire team is especially nice! :hat off

Admiral:

Neat vintage paintjob and basing binding together disparate miniatures. Good colour choices, too!

Piccolo:

I thought I’d share what I’m working on recently.

A chaos dwarf king on throne. He is almost done, just need gluing and some final shading here and there. I thought he might be a good unit filler but The minis are smaller than Gw or mantc, so it might look a bit out of place in a CD unit.

and a regiment of 10 bullcentaurs - assembled, unpainted (except for the two that I already painted years ago).

Piccolo:

I finished the king. Sorry for the quality of the pictures, I still need to figure out how to make good lighting for my minis.

I also thought it would be a good idea to photograph the golem next to a chaos dwarf so you can see the size of this mini (the picture is actually much better than the pictures of the golem I posted previously x.x)

Admiral:

Nice minis and colour scheme! Your army is shaping up just fine.

Abecedar:

For some reason I think your Golem looks Aztec or mayan

Abecedar
Maybe the head looks a bit like a mayan mask :P

Abecedar:

that is probably it now that you pointed it out
