[Archive] Playtesting Version 2 of the Indy GT list

Alric:

The list in its basic form is apparently several years old, but I don't think it's much of a coincidence to create a list that sounds like that post on Warseer - most fan lists follow the same basic pattern as that post.

Thommy H
"Most" ? Oh really well that's great to hear there should be lots of support for Kevin and Matts list then shouldn't there.

Thommy H:

Yes, most. Most people take out Greenskins altogether, or just leave Hobgoblins in. Most people introduce Daemonic Engines and other constructs.

Are you suggesting that Kevin lifted his list wholesale from a random post on Warseer? And if he did, so what? It’s one paragraph: you can’t argue that whoever posted that did most of the work or anything.

Nah actually as I posted I asked if it was an "inspiration" that should be clear to you, it's right there in black and white.
But just like you pointed out with "most" people doing the same then its likely that most will like the list and play it , and hopefully with most people it will be the new chaos dwarf army list.

Grimstonefire:

That is debatable I think. You cannot judge the majority by the occasional wishlisting. Most of the fan lists I have seen bring in at least one thing from the 3rd ed? Whatever one the tenderiser/ bazooka etc one was.

So I’m guessing the fan lists most of us see are from people who were interested in CD from that era. Purely a guess, but it would explain why certain things keep cropping up.

There is nothing to suggest that GW would do this. They could throw in a few things purely for nostalgic reasons, but I would be surprised if there is a heavy emphasis on the old things when the time comes.

kerbak:

Im agree with most of the comments from Border reider, specially reagring magic and the magic banner for Centaurs, they really need it.

reagrding sniky gitz, I like how they are now, they are a must on my army and avery good support unit for me (even when when they got a lot of annimosity o my last battles)

I playtest the version 2, but this time with bull centaur commander, which is a killing machine, however, for 2000 pounts, its hard to play against some armies, as there arent dispel options for heros, so I just have the 4 basic dices,

I also use the Eruption gun, but I found it very expensive, and its relly hard to do damage with its rules, i think that its need to be recheck.

also I use Golems this time, and for that points need to be unbreakable or stuborn,

everithing else I think keeps fine,

can wait for version 3:hat off

I think it still needs some more tweaking, I'm eager to see version 3 and do some play testing then.

I've got some ideas I'm tinker with for my own daemoneater model, planning on working up some sketches for a model.

Swissdictator:

I do hope there is a hero version of the sorcs. That way not every list I’d every field would need a sorc lord.

Thommy H:

It looks to me like this unusual method of spell casting isn’t proving that popular. I think it’s a very interesting concept in principle, and the controversial nature of it was very appealing to me, but in practice I think it just debilitates Chaos Dwarfs too much. I think the Daemon-binding stuff is fine in just war machines and magic items - it’s not like summoning Daemons from the warp isn’t adequetly represented by spells already. Look at Steed of Shadows, for example, which all but says the wizard is being carried by a Daemon.

mattbird:

Version 3 is now up!

Thommy, yah, nobody likes the spell casting concept from versions 1/2. There’s a refined version of the same idea in the 3rd version which seems simpler at a glance. But I for one favor going back to normal magic.
