[Archive] Quercus's Army of Doom (16th June - Hobgoblins hunting in the night! WiP!)

Fuggit Khan:

Good work on the Hobgoblins…I love these type of conversions, I especially like the detail you added to the back of the hat on the Hobbo in the middle, nice attention to small details with the hat ‘stitches’ :cheers

Quercus:

Thank you guys, I am so really happy on effects. Maybe tomorrow I will prepare the rest of my 20 archers to being greenstuffed

Abecedar:

I too like the extruded goblins as Hobgobbo’s.  They are a far bit of work and I appreciate the effort you are going through

Quercus:

Hello!
Today was good day to paint!
I think that sorcerer is my best painted mini ever (Sorry for low quality photos I will try to make better with day light)

And here’s WIP of my fireglaive unit, a special unit of the Great Sorcerer Prophet [I will choose name later :P]. Good army is army with fluff!

Btw. I like so much khorne + mephiston + evil sunz combo as you can see

Update…! BSB, for now I call him “demoralized and tainted hammerer standard bearer” :stuck_out_tongue:

Quercus:

BSB continues… It’s done in 90%, I will glue a skull on top of helmet (little “big hat”). That horn on shoulder pad is made from mushroom cap from night gobos

Bloodbeard:

Good stuff. I lile the dark red colours.

That RA sorcerer is a great model and you’ve done a fine job painting him. But those banners deserve some colours. Either some nice free hand design or just some simple runes.

Nice beardjob on the bsb.

Yodrin:

Nice job on those. Like what you did with the banner

Admiral:

Now that’s some working conversions of the new Dwarf kits into CDs. Since it’s a character model you might want to add little skulls, spear tips or the like dangling from his ringlet beard. Hellcannon style.

That’d pull the miniature even further away from Dawi to Dawi Zharr.

Quercus:

Hello!

It’s time for WAAAAR…! Uh, I mean “update”. Yea, “update”.

This one has it’s own theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGHPCuqjuWY

WFB totally got me! I love it…! Okey, nothing more to say. Here’s my army (without 62 goblins that need so much work to do). As you can see I bought some minis  I really love the magma cannon and heroes. My favourite one is still Russian one, but hey, look at them! They are awesome! The details are shocking, even if cast is little bit messy it’s look so nice. Unfortunately my sorcerer has broken his magical staff when fighting with courier.

Btw. I will totally change colour scheme of my Infernal G/Ironsworns. My concept is red scales, gray/gray-blue clothing, red shoulders with golden rims and ofcourse nice lava orange weapons, golden or silver armor with lots of little runes. Im so nerdly excited

So here we go!

I surely need to do an all day painting session!

Yodrin:

A nice update. Like the colors you are using, looks great!

Admiral:

Your army takes shape nicely. I like the colours chosen.

Abecedar:

A very well rounded start you’ve got now. Love your sorcerers really big hat… But does that make him a large target?

Quercus:

Hobgoblin update!

Hello again!
Recently I get awesome deal. I bought nearly 50 of gobbos for lil’ cost! But, uhm, I realised that they ALL will need become taller, fatter and beastlier. So… I get lot of greenstuff and bits. This week I will have more time to spend on my army (yay! :)). I can’t promise but I will try to convert some hobos.

So here’s all of my nasty long-nose, putrid-breathing and overally disgusting horde of 77! hobgobs!

Admiral:

Now that’s a fair horde number!

Yodrin:

77 WOW!!!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Ben Saunders:

How are you getting on with those Hammerers? I thought that they would make good Chaos Dwarfs even without much conversion, due to the scale armour. Shame they’re almost as pricey as the FW CDs though…

Quercus:

I just bought one mini. It cost me (with package etc.) something like 6$.

And unfortunately it didn’t work for me. Azgorh’s are little bit fatter and bigger so the hammerer looks rather silly among other heroes from FW  So, uh,I must stick to the “official” one. It doesn’t make me upset because I’ve got friend who sells them for me in relatively low price.

Quercus:

After huge break here’s little of my work. Slow… steady but forward!

This mini is my best by far and I’ve got little progress in painting I think  (I wish this would be hero not crewman :P) I’m really proud of him

First try on OSL

And I again changed colour scheme for Fireglaves (this one is the last, final, I promise! :D)

Admiral:

Nice colours. The bull standard’s eye glow is particularly nice.

Quercus:

I  wish to have better lightining, camera and skills so effects would be much better. On pictures it’s hard to see shading (I’ve done something like 4 layers but here… it’s look like one solid ‘mephiston red’) but for now it’s all I can do, maybe when I make a photo by day all shades will be shown :)
By the way… I am thinking to buy Thunder Warriors from Avatars of War and convert them to blunderbasses. Just add some horns to make them look like crewmen-like chaos dwarfs. Next thing is that they’re plastic, so I could work on my painting skill with them and even when I spoil something I will have chance to clean them (cleaning failcast would be much harder I think).
