[Archive] Question concerning the Fimir GT list in "Tales of Battle"

Zanko:

I have a question concerning the new unofficial Indy GT Fimir list which was published in the “Tales of Battle” magazine!

Does anyone have more infos/descriptions of all the different new units in this list?

I have neither idea what the different units look like nor about their background …

The “Tales of Battle” webside was no help for me!

So I would be glad if anyone could post a link or the full description of these new units!

Yeah, a bestiary section would have been nice - or a little more art/model showcase - but there are not many doing a full fimir army. And we thought that CD was a niché army - lol.

Maybe you should have mention whats in there besides the Fimirs (warlord, Meargh and Dirach wizards, Fimm, Fianna and fimmling) - it might help ‘ringing a bell’ :wink:

There is a core unit call ‘Bog swarm’  that has claws/fangs and is venom (40m base)

A special call ‘Gorgazors’ with a single Cyklor update (25mm bases)

Another special is ‘Night Terrors’- flyers with sharp talons (25mm bases) - Fantasy Tyranids :wink:

Rancor Riders (someone have watched way to much Star Wars, I guess) - the Rancor is a giant swarmp-dwelling beast (sounds a bit like the Albion fellbeast) with a fimmling rider.

For rares we have:

Eye Tyrant that has huge maw with rows of razor-sharp fangs. Fly, terror and regenerates (50mm base)

Eye Oculus is a rotting mobile alter pulled by 2 Fimm’s

Hi, there will be a full bestiary in the full army book. There wasn’t room in ToB to include it all. This is just the playtest list.

Thanx for this info! :hat off

I wasn't aware that a full armybook will follow!

mattbird:

yup! a 3-in-1 book with Fimir, Halflings and The Merr (Fishmen). should be out end of the year. If anyone is doing any of these armies, we will be needing pics. :slight_smile:

I will paint my 10 Bogs/Fimir in the next time - but I'm afraid that my painting skills will you not satisfy! ;)

Hi Matt,

I know it an un-official list right now - but is there any official discussion thread for the list/the playtesting - like you did for the Chaos Dwarfs. Had a look at talesofbattle and warmongers (where Kevin and you posted last time) - but can’t find anything similar for this.

Anywhere I/we can find bestiary/fluff/background for this list. It’s based on old 3rd ed rules is pretty obviouse - but there most be other inputs as well.

Hopfully you can reveal some of the secrets without giving the book away.

Is it going to follow the same structure as the Chaos Dwarf book. I'm assuming it is going to be broken into 3 completely different sections?

@ToM

It’s a ‘Allied Contingents’ book - but yes, it’s got to be 3 different lists - with some common rules for using a Ally Contigent. It’s planed to include hobby and conversion guides, background, fiction and campaign ideas as well - according to ToB #6.

And hopefully the final book will allow some of the allied contigents to be used with Dwarfs of Chaos - especially the Fimir’s - who seems to ally with all the other evil races.

Da Crusha:

since were talking about fimirs I thought I would post this new fimir model I found recently

mattbird:

talesofbattle.com forums would be the place to post feedback, or email me or Ben directly. There won’t be as vigorous a play test for these lists, as they are not meant for Grand Tournaments (necessarily). As for fluff, I honestly don’t know. Kevin is handling all the fimir fluff. I’m more focused on Fishmen!

yes, 3 different sections, 1 for each army list. Plus some scenarios and stuff like that. This is more of an overall hobby book.

Zanko, we are short on modelers for this, so honestly anything you do would be welcome and appreciated. If it’s good enough for you, it’s good enough for us!

LOL well you are doing Fimir its not like they were even that common of a sight back in the day.

@Da Crusha

Great find. Have you seen any painted ones? Its a interesting figure but heads dont seems quite right to me - and at nearly £12 - I’ll not be able to field a whole Fimm warrior unit with these :wink:

Think, I’ll try commission a guy or try to sculpt my own heads that would fit the plastic orc warriors - if I should go for a full ally contingent. Or ‘just’ use those Blood Moon Bogs.

@Willmark

Pretty common in my HeroQuest days :wink: To me, Fimir and HeroQuest are pretty much the same thing.

Willmark:

Yep I remember Heroquest one of my buds had it.

I remember the metal Fimir models for 3rd (and earlier) but they were never that common in the States.

clam:

Nor in Europe - which explains their current status (as non excisting) and their price-level a eBay.

Re: Your request for pics.

I'm not a great painter, but I have a couple of units of (ex-heroquest) fimirs painted up, plus halflings, and a genuine gw fishman. Also loads of DZ, those being on the top of my obsession list. Love your Indy GT DZ list. Had loads of fun at the state championships with it.

Obsidian:

Bit off-topic maybe but I would have a handful of Halflings for sale if you need them! :wink:

AGPO:

There’s an old Fimir thread at the bottom of this page I started back in the day. It has links to all the old Fimir miniatures produced
