[Archive] RA dwarfs in plastic!

Rozmax:

Very soon all line of Dwarf of fire canyon well bee in plastic)!:hat off

Loidrial:

WAIT WHAT? REALLY? THIS IS AMAZING!! Will the price change? Will that be for all the models?

Need more info! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH

Grimstonefire:

Hmm, shiny plastic is not great quality in my experience… But if it’s cheaper then great.

Bloodbeard:

Seeing as the big problems with all these dudes as ranking them up, plastic is amazing news! Easier to cut and convert. … I don’t need more dwarfs. …

Admiral:

Quite good news, though I’ve had little experience with shiny plastic apart from hearing it’s a quite low quality material. But if the details of your excellent sculpts are captured anyway, then that’s good news! Especially if the price is lowered, that could mean a lot more sales.

Bloodbeard
Yes you do! You can never have too many Dwarfs.

Loidrial:

Anything about the price? Now the metal one are 32$ right?

TheHoodedMan:

Hi Rozmax,

I already own a unit of the Great Weapons dwarfs. Great models, I love them. Great news that all Dwarfs were produced in plastic, because lighter models are easier to play.

Some questions:

a) casting quality: Will it be adequate to the metal ) ones?

b) material attributes: What kind of plastic is used? Is superglue necessary (like with avatars of war) or can it be glued with plastic glue?

c) Hobgoblins: Will the Hobgoblins also be changed to plastic?

Price is an interesting factor also as already mentioned.

@Blood: Had no problems ranking the GW warriors, by the way.

GeofreyShank:

YAY

I am going to get sooo poor!

Rozmax:

The quality of casting we’ll be the same level. About price I do now yet. The chef of the RA said that all models are going to recasts in plastic. What kind of plastic I do now.

sam585:

Very tempted to purchase some of these models, especially the hobgoblins in plastic. Looking forward to this keep updating.

Zanthrax:

Great news well done RA

gIL^:

I may pick up a box or 2 if they are competitively priced. Sad to say at the current price we might as well buy infernal guards.

Time of Madness:

The current price of $32 for 10 models is pretty good in my opinion. Infernal guard cost close to $50 for 10 models.

Rozmax:

I do not understand , when everyone is talking about the price. when it is less than half Forge . the more that the pattern of metal. I think Forge in the metal would be even more expensive. although the metal is now good only for collectioners.

Rozmax
I agree with you.
In my case, the only reason that I haven't purchased any RA minis is because they're metal. Plastic is easier to convert, transport, etc... Once the plastic RA's become available I will certainly buy some boxes.
Good news, and smart choice IMO.

People are asking about price due to the understanding that plastic is cheaper than metal, which it most certainly is. Thus charging the price ($32.00) for metal AND plastic seems odd since the plastic figures are cheaper for you to produce but less valuable then the metal ones.

Your company can curtail peoples question of price if you add more minis per box compared to the metal ones.

i disagree. is strongly dependent on the technology. There are plastics which are more expensive than metal . the transition to the HS resin I have not noticed cheaper . and even now there are new models for 5 pcs. in the box for 31 euros.

Rozmax
Yes that`s right. Price as it is is rather ok if the qualitiy is right, especially regarding that RA includes shipping in the price.
More important is the casting quality (please no mold lines!), fitting of the parts and the material.
Personally I would judge this far more important than a few EUR price difference.

Admiral:

The current price is very reasonable when compared with the obvious alternatives, out of production big hats and Forgeworld Infernal Guards. That’s why I purchased RA evil dwarfs a couple of years ago. Still, I’m just a tightwad and wouldn’t mind lower prices on everything, everywhere.

A move to plastic will be of great value to conversions.

Fuggit Khan:

This is great news Rozmax, thank you for sharing this with us :hat off

Rozmax
Rozmax is correct, high end quality virgin grade styrene plastics cost more than most casting metals. Most plastic kits these days (including GW kits) are made of cheaper styrene and polyethylene plastic mixes…a poorer quality plastic (but not as poor as bakelight plastics).

Admiral
Agreed! The RA models have always been an affordable alternative to FW…and I will choose plastics or metals over resin any day.

Again, thank you Rozmax :hat off
