[Archive] Reaper Miniatures KICKSTARTER!

Golder Goldeater:

After mantic games and Avatars of War, here comes Reaper Miniatures, with a plan to expand their “Bones” line; Basicly it’s like Finecast, but much cheaper (2$ per model) and, according to most reviews, it doesn’t suck.

fairoaks024:

i’ve painted some of the undead and werewolves up, my only issue is that it goes ‘sticky’ to the touch with some oil based varnishes, just make sure you use acrylic varnish and you’ll be fine.

detail wise they are excellent,

French_noodle:

Haven’t seen any “bones” model yet, but the regular ones are generally awesome.

150.000$ in only five days. I think this is going to end very high. Can’t wait to see the next levels and tombs revealed !

Pretty sure i will be backing on this, at least at vampire level. It is already incredibly cheap.

Thanks for the info !

Ravenswood:

So anyone backed It to the Vampire level? Can anyone buy ‘Mister Reaper’ for me? I may do it by myself but simply not need tons of this minis to get only one.

JMR:

Just a quick bump to remind everyone of this project. With 3 days to go the project is reaching it’s end. You get a lot of miniatures right now if you opt in for Vampire level ($100) and there’s some cool extras you can get too such as dragons, paint sets or figure cases.

Check the project out if you haven’t yet.

Edit: Here’s what you currently get for the Vampire level:

Blue in VT:

Man! i have just been bitten by the dungeon crawl bug…this would be an excellent way to get almost EVERYTHING I need in one go! how much time is left?

Clicking the link in the first post would have answered that... 3 days to go. I'm on the fence again. I don't really *need* much there, but it would give me whole load of interesting stuff. And I am really interested in some of the rat things.

Blue in VT:

Right sorry about that…Off to see if I can find bigger pictures anywhere…

Blue

JMR:

You can have a peek here: http://greg.botch.com/bones/

One of Reaper’s “fans” keeps track of all the updates. You can hover over models to see bigger pictures and click on them to go to reaper’s online store showing their metal equivalents.

He also keeps track of what it would cost to buy those models in metal.

Vampire ($100 pledge): $936.38 + 21 new sculpts + Sophie (priceless)
I have to admit the extras, like the Clockwork dragon, interest me the most.

Sadly, you need a CreditCard to pledge at Kickstarter, and I don’t own one. I’m trying to find a work-around…

Blue in VT:

:hat off

Wow…thats a great way to get a better look at those figures…thanks…you are making this harder to resist!

Blue

Blue in VT:

So combing through those larger images I see about 30-35 figures that I would like to have…I’m just not sure I can justify paying $100 for those…and having all the others to deal with/sell off.

If anyone here is getting the vampire level and wants to sell off extra models they don’t need please contact me and we can see if our lists match at all.

The are quickly approaching 1.5million…CRAZY!

Cheers,

Blue

Thommy H:

Remember, you will be able to just buy all this stuff the regular way once they’ve funded the product line!

zobo1942:

Which is exactly why I’m waiting!

There are prepaid credit cards. Not sure on the how and what.

beefcake:

I’ve pledged at Campire level… oops, typo(Camp Vampire?)… Vampire level. I won’t be keeping everything and will sell most of the stuff off. I don’t really know what I will keep yet TBH. I’ll probably get rid of a lot of the chronoscope stuff, Except the big gorilla. Don’t want the townsfolk etc. I’ll be trading in the Sophie for the Nethermaul dragon. Apparently you can opt to trade in Sophie for $25 credit!! I don’t have a credit card but a debit card instead. So it’s my money not someone elses I’m using. Credit cards are evil

flashgordon:

nice set

That actually tickled my memory.

Basically all chipped Debit cards nowadays(*) (will usually be VISA and MasterCard "technology" even if the issuer is another company, the aforementioned have developed the system for it and everyoen uses that since the "infrastructure" exists) will be accepted "as if" Credit cards.

(*)Valid for European cards at least thanks to ESTA. SEPA (got my acronyms mixed up, I blame having done too much ESTA stuff recently)

Paid for a previous Kickstarter with my Debit card.
I spent over a week in the US and used my Debit card in most places, only difference was that they had to punch it in as credit card sometimes. Only the NYC subway refused to take the card.

JMR:

Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be the case for the cards that Dutch banks use. I believe the correct term for the Dutch cards is “Direct Debit”, which are different from Debit Cards. Direct Debit cards do have some compatibility with other banks and payment systems (should be able to use them on A.T.M. machines around the globe for example), but using them as a Credit Card online isn’t one of them.
I think Holland is a bit funny in that regard, I think we have a fairly unique payment system and although owning a Credit Card becomes more common, it’s not the default.

Either way, I’m looking at using a virtual credit card voucher now. Visa issues such cards under the “3V” name. Does cost a bit extra though.

Edit: Huh? The forum changes A.T.M. without dots into “at the moment” automatically!

Actually that should not be possible. *All* European (EU+EFTA and if you're in neither I don't count you...) nations now run the same payment system through SEPA, *especially* the euro countries make no difference between domestic and foreign payments.

The introduction of chip cards meant the banks have all had to adapt the VISA/Mastercard payment infrastructure.
Admittedly there is a small chance there's some legacy left, my bank only switched to chip cards last year.
As I understand it, there's no "ATM cards" anymore and they are all either debit/credit cards based on VISA/Mastercard.
If you have a card with a chip, it should say Mastercard or VISA on it, and if it does you can always try and use it. Not like you have anything to lose, it either works or not.
