Considering Leonard Nimoy and Terry Pratchett also died this year and a few days ago Nichelle Nichols had a mild stroke, this year isn’t looking too good for major figures in sci-fi/fantasy; who’s gonna be next? Ian McKellan? Tom Baker? Maybe we should start a pool

This is sad, must admit I was thinking only a couple of months ago it wouldn’t be long. Not that I knew or anything, just he reached a good age.

Wonder how many aspiring fantasy novelists are now frantically rewriting a character that they’d written specifically so he could play the part if it got a movie adaptation?
