Dunno if anyone else has heard but Stephen Hawking died earlier today (which also happens to be Einstein�?Ts birthday; coincidentally Hawking was born on the same day that Galileo died. No idea if any other scientific figure died on the same day Galileo was born and was born on the day Einstein died to complete the loop though).

He will be missed. I’ve not yet gotten around to reading a brief history of time, but astro/quantum physics is something I’ve taken an interest in, and he was notable in this area for his theories.

Outside of his academic achievements, he should also be respected for living for over fifty years after being given less than a tenth of that to live after being diagnosed with ALS.
