So there is a few more pictures as of 22 August "11 to bide you over until I get back in the swing of things and have some decent unit’s to add
In the tradition of it didn’t happen unless there is a picture: Here are greens of my Army. (and one that has been painted in the scheme I like)
The aim of this blog is to motivate me to finish the units I have started and eventually use up and finish all of the Army items I currently have (the running list is in my sig) as well as get some of my concepts up and running
This is purely an Army building blog my conversions are passable and my painting is woeful but it’s all about getting those points on the table
As I convert and get up to my more grand projects (namely my Cannons, Lords…possibly Centaurs on the go i’ll up-date this post here with the concept ideas)
and without further ado my totally unfinshed 25 warriors (I had all of the dwarfs in my first BfSP some way greened and lost one, BB’s are not going to be posted here as I want to paint them and hopefully put them in the Golden Hat)
That is just the first pic I took it has all the undamaged/finished-ish ones in the front. :o except for one x.x
----------------------------------------------
I called this one Unit factory as it contains what I have currently warts and all you can see that my champions arm has fallen off and the standard barers standard has broken where it becomes a stick, not to mention all the various stages of my development. I use every single warrior in the box including miners, hence the pretty severe hack jobs.
-----------------------------------------------
Rough draft piant scheme, plus up close (i’ll post the Earth Shaker I have at the moment so you can see the woeful attempts to come up with an alternate paint sceme)
------------------------------------------------
My hearts favorite (even though it’s so hunched over you can’t see his face) my very first conversion ever! You can see him in the unit pics obviously the one who’s head is pointing down
-------------------------------------------------
As promised the Earth Shaker complete with 2 alternate paint schemes (the back two CD’s) the rest is the original paint scheme I got it with. Mine is the woeful green one :~
As you can see I was too afraid to make masks and do not trust my sculpting skills enough to make faces so I opted for helmets. I have used the tusked masks in homage to the tusks on a 5th ed Chaos Dwarfs. I have plans to possibly put hats on sorcerers mainly due to this site. I didn’t really like big hats much in the begining they have grown on me thanks to you guys. As for my Hob-gobbies they are even more unfinished than these guys (the lack of feet has me stalling). Oh and the earthshaker might be finding a new deserving home so I can make a more Hellcannon-ish one because i’ve been inspired by the Word of Hashut conversion. Not to mention I will hopefully get something for one of those concept Lords I was talking about. I hope you enjoy :hat off
(edited to add new stuff and to get image size right)
They’re looking fine, without the elongated-neck-syndrome I’ve seen before with this technique (yes, I did it too: my poor little CD/giraffe-crossbreeds).
Okay so I was being good last night and put a head and helmet on one of them (was in my tool box )and found out that my glue had dried up inside it’s container (explains the smell) as the lid wasn’t on tight enough. So I didn’t get to finish the started ones.
I plan to cut my fingers up some tonight as I hack up the back line of them ready for my process. I was lazy and put off doing the hobbo’s feet (…again…) so I will do them tonight as well.
Alfract I have just about all of two boxes of BfSP I’m missing quite a few bits and pieces though (and the spider riders are all long gone). I am debating getting another as I want two units of 25 warriors as my core and I know the box sets days are numbered. I love how easy the plastic is to work with. But I already have enough of just about everything else not to mention have spent alot of money already on what I have hence this blog to motivate me to finish what I can with what I have already (more muarder and chaos warrior boxes will need to be bought though).
Anonymouse I noticed the first one might have the neck thing happen so I used alot less green stuff. It’s amazing how little you actully need for surface conversions. They are only as good as they are because I watched Xanders you-tube video alot and really took on board the tip about water on the tools and using a little amount.
I might take a picture of my Army tub but it’s embarrassing to have sooo much stuff bought and not made yet. I still have to tell myself not to buy anything more when I go to the GW store for stuff
looking good buddy, keep it up, you will find with greenstuff (the same with anything really), that its a lot harder than it looks at first, but the more you stick at it, the easier it will get.

Join the club!! :o :hat off ;P
I've been trying to hold off on painting anything until I get most of my conversions and units organized. Once I'm happy with how everything has shaped up and how the units are looking I'll commit to a specific paint scheme and have at 'er.

Ronshank! No, no... Bad idea... bad. Don't tell yourself that!!! Stay open to all possibilities ;) You never know when inspiration will hit you to do a conversion. Besides, retail therapy does wonders for your soul... or so my wife tells me. Although she never gives me a hard time about money I've spent on 'the hobby' (in the same way that I never give her a hard time about what she spends her own money on), She did just buy two new pairs of shoes in the last month... which by my reckoning would have been enough for 7 BFSP boxes... so although she wouldn't give me a hard time about spending that kind of money on this stuff it makes me feel a lot less guilty about it ;) Besides, I don't smoke, gamble, visit the 'peelers, go out drinking excessively (like I used to) or carouse around town... so I've got to spend my money on something, right? ;)

P.S. everything is looking great so far... we all want to see more!

My gods, and you call that a life?! :p

Haha, yes.. and loving every minute of it!! :cheers My full-time job is also my other hobby, and apart from Warhammer stuff and work I spend all of the rest of my waking hours with my daughter and my wife living it up and having a better time than I ever did 'partying' as a student (not that many) years ago. :cheers ;P

He's right. Just last night when I was scrolling through the GW website I saw for the first time ever, the ork stompa and like a flash of lightning, a conversion thought of such epic scale came to me! It's gonna take a lot of green stuff and a much bigger workshop than my room but I'll do it. I'll convery the ork stompa into a Chaos Dwarf Stompa! NO ONE COULD STOP ME THEN! :s
But yeah, don't feel bad about buying the occasional model or two just as long as you don't go skint because of it. :) I'm also planning on converting an ork battlewagon into a giant tenderizer. Lotsa plans.
This update is just to chronical when I changed my CD army type. This has been coming for a while but as I do not collect any other army besides Chaos Dwarfs buying Chaos Warriors as well as Maurder box sets to make my army is just too costly. I believe my green stuff skills have reached a point where I can make reasonable conversions based on the hellcannon warriors and I’m going to try to stick to that style. Unfortunately that $50 odd dollars each for Chaos Warrior box sets have been the straw that broke the camels back for me. The upside is bluiding my army will now be a much cheaper process from here on. Plus I now own some Hellcannon models to base them on. I already have all I need to keep going. So hopefully there will be some Hellcannon base CD’s up here in the near future. Thanks guys

One thing of advice: "Don't buy retail" look for deals on the forums both here and at home, the bulk of my army has been bought on forum BSS areas and ebay and have lots of stuff haha.
Just keep at it i say. This army this has lots of promise.

Use bits sites. Bitzbox is a good one in the UK, although I'm not sure about Oz. They allow you to order specific plastic components from the boxed sets, so you can buy just the chaos warrior helmets you need, rather than the entire sprues.

AGPO
There is only one place to go for bits... hoard_*_bits on ebay. They ship fast & secure, not to mention the bits can be very cheap.

I’m posting what I have here in my blog to shame me into finishing a few more. I’m currently waiting for the postman to bring me my Chaos Warrior Helmets (as well as some more greenstuff and some devlin mud wash from GW). I took your information on board Alfract, AGPO, Shakhorth and tjub so I bought the heads from a bits shop. Not the one you recommended though because they were never in stock, from another place, still best advice ever. I bought 4 full sets of Chaos Warrior heads to finish my BfSP stunties I only paid $18 for each set of heads instead of $50 each for a box that I only need the heads out of. By the way I included the $25 of international postage in my sums so super value for money.
Yes I’ve been away a while, lack of internet always seems to slow my converting down because I can’t get on the forums. Having said that I have a few guys that I can put some pic’s up of (as well as some half done conversions and pic’s of my lovely dice that I am so glad I got and yes the orange ones have been very lucky for me and got me alot of attention at my favorite GW store when playing games with my evil stunties. That GW store has subsequently closed down after it’s rent was increased (I have some pics of the last day at the store somewhere it was really fun). That happening plus my local hobby shop closing down last year has been a real blow to my hobbying but at least internet ordering still works and there are other GW shops. I still prefer to go to stores to buy items it’s nice to catch up with other hobbyists and even get a quick game in depending on the time, pity they are just so darn good at upselling.
My unfinished CD Army
Done Models in bold
15 Warriors
started 15 Warriors (these are half done they need heads)
want to turn these into 25 a piece and have BfSP to do this (I own 3 BfSP one has not even been opened)
10 BB’s first I’m not happy with how their guns turned out
I want to turn these into 20, so yes 10 from another BfSP Box need to be done
20 BB’s (box of thunderers I’m still figuring out how to convert these they are not quite as easy as a BfSP Dwarf but i’ll figure it out)
started 50 Hob Gob Warriors (can be split into units of 25) these guys are currently cut in half waiting for wire lengthening of the legs
50 Hobgob Archers (can be split into units of 25)
10 Black Orcs
10 Wolfriders (lost a few bits…)
started Death Rocket (Empire Rocket Battery)
started Earthshaker: Using spare parts of the empire volley gun this is similar in size to the traditional earth shaker I had and I’m converting it to fit in with my Army (the traditional Earthshaker didn’t fit in with my army)
Hellcannon: way daunting putting this together I want to paint this as I go
Hero
Sorcerer
Lord on Taurus
that’s about it I haven’t even figured out how many points this all is. Now for the converting and hopefully painting…
Sorry if I double post with my army pic’s (and also sorry if I take a while to put the pic’s on here too, depends on when the postman gets here, I want to have my Lord on his Taurus done as part of the pic’s because my BB’s guns are so lame :cheers)
And to further shame me my “Army” warts and all, notice my pretty dice and their leather bag, there’s heaps of stuff half converted or in the planning stage complete with the bits bought…darn me and my laziness. since I’m editing anyway I’m adding that this is much more respectable at the moment but I won’t post anything else until my new units are completed, and possibly even painted
oh and this has absolutely nothing to do with my army but as I was checking my camera I found this pic too (I live in Ipswich Queensland and this picture is of the flood waters about 300m from my house in January)
needless to say it’s been a strange 12 months. I must point out that’s not me in the corner just another person checking out the water. I don’t know how to cut her out this is the edited bit
I’ll get cracking on the Taurus and the Death Rocket now.
Good to see you getting back on the wagon/bull centaur… I really like the modeled armies and I hope that my own will one day come back out of the box and be finished. Have you played many 8th Ed games… I am yet to play 8th (but mostly because I am time poor) but I hope to soon. Maybe our armies will face off against one another someday!
