Admiral:
Get them while they’re hot!
gorgarrak:
I hope it lasts until Thursday, I’m poor until then
Mike
TheHoodedMan:
Thats amazing, just ordered a unit. Hope the plastic quality is anywhere near the metal ones.
gorgarrak:
I gave in and bought a load anyway, 4 boxes of sword and board, 2 boxes of blunderbuss, 2 boxes of GW, 4 boxes of gobbos and associated command groups and heroes. That’ll keep me going for a while
Mike
zobo1942:
Thanks for the heads up - I just ordered some. Bargain!
ExiledAuthor:
That really is a great deal! Does anyone know how the quality of the plastics stacks up against that of the metal?
Admiral:
The ones I and my brother received were good. A few miniscule air bubbles, but one elf hero didn’t even have detectable mouldline (!). We’re happy with it.
ExiledAuthor:
Right on. I tend to stick with metal when possible, but man, the price of those plastics at 50% off is hard to pass up! Been looking at Russian Alternative for my Mordheim CDs for a month or so now, and this may be the impetus to pull the trigger on them.
Admiral:
An extra reason to get them would be that metal chips paint off easily, especially for ranked units.
ExiledAuthor:
You’re right. Sadly, I have this horrible curse of being a better painter on metal as opposed to plastic, so it’s always a dilemma when a sculpt is available in both materials. Thankfully, since I only play Mordheim now, I don’t have to worry about ranked troops. However, the wallet is screaming “PLASTIC!” There may be a coin toss in my immediate future…

JMR:
The plastics are excellent in quality. Some of the beards are pretty thin though. I can imagine trapped air can cause some damage there.
I’m not certain on the type of plastic. I guess I’d say restic, because it almost feels like resin. It catches the detail perfectly, in my experience.
Admiral:
Neither am I certain, but restic is my impression as well.
mireadur:
plastic glue works?
This message was automatically appended because it was too short.
gorgarrak:
Plastic glue doesn’t work, you’ll need super glue, drill and pin every part except the head too.

Darkmeer:
Gorgarrak: Thank you for the note about pinning. I will be certain to do so.
I picked up one of each unit (Axe & Board, Great Weapon, Blunderbuss) and the Hobgoblins, one of each command, and one of each special dwarf character. I love the modern look of them and they will go well with Bezhukk. All in plastic. I would have bought more, but my gaming funds are in short supply (and I wanted one of Admiral’s statues!).
JMR:
I personally don’t see the need for pinning. There’s not a lot of weight on the joints.
Firehammer:
Have a lot of metal ones, ordered a few plastics for a Mordheim team.
They haven’t arrived yet, but I don’t think I need pinning when using 2-component epoxy glue (e.g. UHU plus 5min).
