Is anyone else out there as excited as I am about making this figure? I spent a good part of the weekend cutting, pinning, gluing, kit-bashing and greenstuffing and the result is looking really great! I’ve got a tiny part to do tonight around one of his wrists and then I can start painting.
How many people are actually making a model of Rykarth for this competition?

I would love to make him and use him in the campaign as its a�wonderful cool idea from GW U.S but sadly I have enought on my hand to just paint my standard Chaos dwarfs so I will not make a figre of him. I will instead use him in the fluff when I fight battle, like him giving the order for my army to do diffrent things. Thats would be intersting to see if GW catch up on it.

I pass on this one. Rykarth is a nice character, but he’s a GW-US-exclusive, so technically of no use here in Europe. I don’t think that they will make a model of him either, for the same reason.

I tecnacly already had a rykarth modle that was just a plain old hero with exacly the same equipment.

Huh! I’m all the way out in Taiwan so I don’t have any need for the figure at all. But as a little inspiration to get me cutting and gluing, I think it’s great! And if they bring out a real figure so much the better, I’ll just make this guy a unit champion.

I am slowly starting to put him together. however, it’s the painting I’m unsure of…
Also, he’ll be a cool model to have as a hero or something anyway. A good way to help bulk out my pathetically small army… IF a real model came out (SERIOUSLY doubt it), I’d still buy it…

I was making one. However, the competition is due to end in the middle of my exams, and I’m also moving house during this time as well. So not the best of times for me.

Contributing to the community and getting GW’s attention are really what this is all about. Of all people, you (Mr Cinderhat) should be contributing. Look at the fantastic response to your conversions, some of which was from people who aren’t even fond of the big hat look!
I personally feel it’s circular. Stuff like this makes me want to convert and paint, so the community helps me. And sometimes (if I’m lucky!) my conversions inspire other people to do more and that helps the community (I’ll be putting my Bull Centaurs in the Wiki here when they’re done since they got an especially favorable reaction over on HoH).
I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone does for their vision of Rykarth, and maybe I’ll feel inspired enough to make another one based on someone else’s work.

Even if you don’t want to use the model as Rykarth, make one (for the community, bla blah), but you can use it as a hero or lord anyway! Then, there’s the fact that you might win and all of the (pictures of) models are being sent to GWUS. I have exams until the 26th and I’m still trying to learn the ins and outs of GS for it!

I have finished the modelling half and took photos pre-undercoating. I sculpted the neck and beard and hair on the back myself. First yse of GS and I’m very proud even if I don’t win. Made the weapon myself from other pieces (you’ll see, it’s NASTY! ) and just got to get it painted and take pictures and upload and post by Sunday! Can we post ON Sunday if need be?
