As some of you might know I’m a school teacher. Currently I’m working on a project for a different week of teaching. 200 students working for an entire week centered around a giant sci-fi boardgame.
We’re gonna have a large table (or smartboard) with a solar system, ready for exploration by the 8 teams (8 classes mixed and matched) - think Mass Effect. Simultaneously every team will have their own table, showing their colony, planet and how it expands during the week - Civilization-ish.
I’m going for a worker placement, resource management game - with bonusses added for cooperation with other teams.
For the large solar system exploration part of the game I would love to have some cool spaceships - the mother ships of the teams. I think Battlefleet Gothic ships would be perfect for this - or any other miniature spaceships roughly the same size.
So if anyone have anything like that for sale or can point me towards some that would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

I would look into the X-Wing Range myself, several of the starter sets have a couple of ships in each which might be of use to you and they come “pre painted”. I would look at hobby shops that offer a discount on these models before buying them.

Thanks for the alternatives. Since schools really don't have any money for cool stuff, I'll have to buy the ships myself. And as a don't want to pay money for doing work, I'm gonna look into finding something used.

Thank you very much Hood. I'm working on a 2*1,5 meter Solar System map for exploration at the moment. Filled up off 5*5 CM cards, with blank space on on side and encounters on the other (some will still be blank).
Made some "ship graveyard", "gas cloud", "abandoned space station", "astroid belt" cards. All will either add bonus to the team in control of them or be a encounter / one use card.
Ideas are very welcome.
Perhaps I should make a project log for it, with some pictures. For all your great input.

Your “gameboard” seems pretty big. Is there no possibility to let the groups themselves build their respective mothership from styrofoam or something like that in a little bigger scale than the gw ships?
