[Archive] 'Show Us Your Border Town Burning' Competition

cianty:

Over at the Border Town Burning website we have announced a great competition about this alternate Mordheim setting. You can win lots of prizes such as Chaos Dwarf models (sculpted by D.O.O.M.) and useful Mordheim bitz. Sounds good? Head over to the BTB site or to Tom’s Boring Mordheim Forum to learn more about the competition.

With the Black Dwarf warband being part of the supplement, you can, of course, submit Chaos Dwarf conversions as well: warbands, Gaolers, Daemon Engines/Prison Carts, even fiction, battle reports or whatever fits the setting.

We very much look forward to your submissions!

Kera foehunter:

so what are the other figures one can enter in this contest besides cd

Hashut’s Blessing:

I’m going to have to take a proper look at this some other time, but I get the feeling I’ll be trying to enter!

Willmark:

Cool, great work Cianty, the BTB stuff is always top notch and this is no different.

Kera- the answer to your question is here: http://cianty.ashtonsanders.com/btb/competition.html

Kera foehunter:

its say a group of my choice ?? what are the groups i can chose from ??

cianty:

You can submit anything that relates to the Border Town Burning supplement. The convenient part for you all is that Chaos Dwarfs have been introduced to Mordheim in the BTB supplement, so pretty much anything Chaos Dwarf fits perfectly. Of course, it shouldn’t be an obvious “normal” Chaos Dwarf rip-off, ie. something that was obviously created for Warhammer originally. A Chaos Dwarf warband e.g. should fit the model choices available in the Black Dwarf warband rules, a narrative should not be about a battle between armies but about a small warband, etc.

The theme is “Border Town Burning”, so anything that relates to the setting, the warbands and special characters described in the supplement, is fine.

Kera: Have a look at the supplement for the warbands (factions) that are introduced there. Aside from Chaos Dwarfs there are Marauders of Chaos, Merchant Caravans, Maneaters, Battle Monks and more. If you don’t know the setting, I’m afraid you’ll have to take a look.

Kilov:

Funny you mention it Cianti because I am also working on my list, figureing we have the same list (http://cianty.ashtonsanders.com/btb/pdf/15%20Chaos%20Dwarfs.pdf), I am wandering for a while what the Informers are, are they hobgobbo’s, slave humans, anyone have an idea? Or is it just ment to be as any type of character imprisoned by the black dwarves?

Yes, you are direct linking to the PDF file. It is available from the Border Town Burning website, under Warbands. :)

We deliberately choose to leave this open. Me, I make Dirk (DOOM) give me Hobgoblin models, but you can use whatever you like. Weak, starving human slaves or dwarfs, crawling through the mud... other greenskins like Goblins or Gnoblars (althoug Chaos Dwarfs have explicit access to Gnoblars in the Miscellaneous Equipment section 'Spoils of War'). They allow you to be both really creative and use "proxy models" until you have proper slaves.

Just looking at the rules for this - could you please clarify this:

In the conditions you state:

1. If you intend to submit photos of warbands or other special characters then please note that we will only accept photos of Citadel Miniatures by Games Workshop.

Just wonder who - this could be an entry then:
Dirk has sculpted these cool Chaos Dwarf miniatures for the Black Dwarf warband (yes, that is an example of what would be an excellent submission).

So, what you mean are if you submit models, it shall be standard GW/converted GW (with GW bits only) or your own sculpts - right?

Yes. If you use commercial stuff, then only Games Workshop bitz, but you can, of course, scratch-build whatever you like as well.

cianty:

This is a small reminder that the contest closes in one month! So get your Chaos Dwarf warbands photographed, your Daemon Engine Prison Wagon conversions finished, your short stories written or whatever - and send them in!

Hashut’s Blessing:

I think I’m going to struggle to get this done, but I’m sure I can get something together.

Hashut's Blessing
Yay!!!

Hashut’s Blessing:

Well, I’m hoping to get some models done, but failing that I can get some written work done.

cianty:

Anything would be great!

Auretious Taak:

Can you still enter if you’re banned from Tom’s Boring Mordheim Forum?

Ha ha, sure, Ram! The contest is not related to TBMF. However, it may happen that we decide to put the best results up for vote on TBMF instead of picking them ourselves. If we did that, however, we definately would not give the names of the entries' authors/painters to not influence the voters. So yeah, please submit something if you like!

Ahh, well that's refreshing to know cianty.

As a complete aside, you can look forwards to an indepth article on using the Chaos Dwarves in many levels of play (whether casual through to brokenly powergamed) in an upcoming issue of Word of Hashut I'm working on. It won't be ready for the BTB comp however, and at this point I'm unsure if I'll actually have anything done in time.

The one thing I will say is it is actually quite a refreshing setting and much different to the blasted ruined city scape I've played the vast majority of my games on. Throw in a very sweet air of professionalism and continued development and support of it and well congratulations and thanks to all involved in it.

Cheerio,

Ram.

Shhh no letting the cats out of the bag on WoH!
