[Archive] Small 800 pts

Loidrial:

A friend of mine offered his help for let me start playing again warhammer after 5+ years.

We are going to start with only 800pts, just for something small.

The idea was

1 daemon smith of 2nd lvl

2 rockets

15 infantry with champion music and bannerman (are the 3 you ppl call FC? if so what that means?)

13 blunderbusses

Can this be any good?:~

Spencer:

FC = full command = standard musician champion

Loidrial:

Spencer
you just made my day lol

btw any advice on that mini list?

Might go hobgoblins on that low points-level for ranks and stuff, if you can remove a rocket and squeeze in a magmacannon on this point-level that's ideal for the Daemonsmith to guard, shoot the magma first to save occasional misfire, then fire the rocket, guard for misfire otherwise reroll the "hit" dice if it's not a direct hit already.

sam585:

Hobgoblins at lower point games with bows and shields are pretty amazing. I would take at least 1 unit of 20, and then take the left over points and increase the size of the infernal block.

For special its usually to taste, a magma cannon is nice, but I recall in some low 500ish point games where a unit of bull centaurs or K’daii could have went a long way.

What is your opponent playing?

Bloodbeard:

Could’t you please share what miniatures you have available? Then it’s easier to offer some advice on tweaking the list.

But at only 800 points and with the point being “get back in”, I would only bring 1 warmachine - everything else might be too boring.

Blunderbusses doesn’t deliver below 20 models. So I would proxy those as “fireglaives” instead - to get some shooting at least.

If you post what you have available I’ll make a quick list. Been playing many small games.

Lizard or mortal chaos, dunno what of the 2.

So, the idea is some friendly crap, nothing "serious" at all, so proxy all the way, even because so far i have 1 lord on bull, and 10 basic troops.
I ordered 3 daemon smiths, 2 magma cannons and 2 dwarf organ cannons to convert in rocket launchers + 1 hellcannon (the final idea will be to play 2.5k)
I have to buy some models from russian alternatives and mantic (problem is, russian alternatives cant sell only heads, and i need 20 extra of them)

So as i said, doesnt really matter what i will phisically play on the board, my friend is only helping me.

I took my time and came up with this, what do you think?

1 daemonsmith 95
2nd lvl 35
dispel scroll 25
155pt

Infernalguard 22x12
FC 32
banner of flame 10
306pt

Hobgoblin 30x5.5
shield+bow
Musician 4
169pt

magmacannon 145
hellbound 25
170pt

precisely 800 pts
tot800 r

sam585:

Run metal on your wizard to melt them with searing doom.

I would drop the magma cannon for a rocket, the demolisher round can take out skullcrushers and monsters. The pie part can deal with skinks and other blocks, it can synergize well with metal if you get the plague of rust spell (perm -1 armour) or the enchanted blades (Armour pericing).

In general I would run something like this

Lvl 2 metal with dispell (155)

20 hobgoblins with bows and musician (104)

15 Infernal Guard with musician+standard (200)

4 Bullcentaurs FCMD and greatweapons (225)

Death Rocket (100)

but what will it be with the mage? should i leave him almost all the time alone next to the warmachines? how should i use him?
Even because with range and ling of sight he wont be able to do much if stucked back there...

btw nice list, might work better than the one i made, how should i use the bulls?
I always played skaven so i used to sit back till the last and not do anything but shooting and casting.
with bulls being so big and fast, but dwarves and hobs so slow idk how to sinergize them.

sam585:

Run the smith next to the rocket and keep him out of the infernal guard, he will get a look out sir from everything so no reason to run him in a unit.

Keep Infernal guard and hobgoblins around the smith and warmachine, since they hobs will need the leadership, and the infernal guard will be to small to just fight lizards/chaos in a regular fight.

Bullcentaurs, can go monster hunting, or hang back until a unit takes a big hit from a searing doom or a rocket that was buffed with blades. OR just hold the centaurs back 1-2 turns to support the rest of your army.
