vulcanologist:
I got hooked by the battle report in white dwarf (the one that was re-printed in ‘white dwarf presents-chaos dwarfs’) but since the army was discontinued i’ve focused on orcs and goblins and dark elves. However i’ve just recently stumbled across CDO and my love affair has been re-ignited. Currently i’m secretly building an army to surprise my son with as he is an avid dwarf player!! (cackles evilly!!)
Laurellien:
The first warhammer army book that I ever owned was Ravening Hordes, and I have a load of White Dwarfs from around then. I never really played fantasy (I was a Chaos Space Marine player through and through) but I had managed to acquire a load of old, well painted Citadel and Marauder Dwarfs.
I started playing Vampire Counts, and was wowed by the wealth of special characters and additional rules on the GW Website, including Dwarf ones. I had a reasonable number of Dwarfs, enough to make a 500 pts army, but the fact that I couldn’t use my Dwarf wizards put me off somewhat (but hey, I still play Dwarfs today).
Then Battle for Skull Pass came out, and I realised that it was basically a Chaos Dwarf battleforce, and as my 40k army at that point was Iron Warriors, I decided to start collecting and playing Chaos Dwarfs. I did nothing for ages, and then TheVoice persuaded me to actually do something about the handful of Big Hat, Marauder and Mask models that I have and turn them into a proper army.
Xander:
I acquired my limited range of big hat models from a friend who quit the game. I never did anything with them for the longest time. Then I was thinking of selling them off and started lurking at HoH. I became so enthusiastic about Chaos Dwarfs after seeing new interpretations (from people like Grimstonefire) of the army after the [[Hellcannon]] came out, that I tried my hand at some of my own conversions.
Then once exquisite evil made his [[BFSP]] conversion, I tried it myself. After that, I started building an entire army, using the [[BFSP]] miniatures as my first stepping stones, and then later branching off to other model ranges to fill in the gaps.
Montanarugby:
I started playing warhammer in 4th edition and have quite a few large armies. My favorites though are using the less common ones. So while I have Brets, dwarves, lizzies and skaven my favorites are my Chaos Dwarf, empire version Ulric list, tomb kings and my hobbit heavy Dogs of war.
AssurBahniZharr:
Have always been fascinated by Assirian/Babylonian stuff since I was i childXD and i remember drawing huge winged bull monsters at some point.
So when it came to play to WHFB i just decided for CDs (i was in love with the Great Taurus) but a friend of mine told me to not waste money and time with a collection of WD articles=P (how right he was i could not imagine). Anyway i started using Dark Elves first and Skaven then… till two months ago. I had just finished to re-read the Hobbit and something was moving me toward dwarfs…in a twisted way…was the voice of Hashut?!
When I discovered Ravening Hordes was removed form the sites, and having read some of the years-old rumors that something was moving on, i knew i had to take care of them, that they deserved my attention so I said to my self…now or never!!
The most part was done…i was prey of Hashut’s rage and thirst for a too long neglected Glory
So here i’am, no regret at all:) i love them, i’m painting them and more, i PLAY them, give them names, recording experiences (using rules from 90’s mighty empires) i write a new history, and i’m quite proud when people come and say “wow U use Chaos dwarfs…never seen them on the battlefield!”
I’m also lucky to have found an association of players that are happy to play with my Dawi-Zhaar .
So that’s all folks;)
Abecedar:
I must have heard something somewhere but I started collecting them brfore I found your websites. Maybe it was the Hellcannon. My son and I only started 3 years ago with the BFSP, him dwarfs, me goblins and I guess the evil side of things appeals to me. He’s gone to Empire and Space Wolves and I’m now playing Chaos Dwarfs (latest army), Orcs & Gobbo’s, Chaos and High Elves. Everyone knows elves are actually evil just try talking nicely to one as an equal and anything that likes killing dwarfs counts for me. Now its a passion. I need all the 3rd ed and marauders, emphasis on need not can afford. Only have 105 but not each model yet and despite my initial dislike of the big hats (just the scale I think) they have grown on me remarkably.
