[Archive] Space Orcs

Joshmohr:

Well, my necron army is turning out well. I was wondering about the space orcs, my friend feels as tho they where maid for me. Are they that good? heard they have a lot of ‘back fires’

slev:

I’ve been playing Orks since Rogue Trader.

Some specialist weapons are a bit risky, but for the most part, they are a solid army, and loads of fun to play.

Joshmohr:

I see, what units are the toughest to take down?

Nobz and Nobz Bikers, hands down. They are units that can make the most of the "wound allocation 'exploit'" in 5th ed and they hit HARD.

Essentially Orks tend to be of a high-risk high-yield type units. And they come relatively cheap so you can buy some redundancy. But you are still going to get shafted now or then by fluky dice, but that sort of goes for everyone, bar perhaps marines.
Orks aren't nearly as "wacky" as they used to be until 3rd edition really, part of the "unreliability" is historic legacy. A great fun and in 5th a very effective army. I'm doing one mostly for the building and hobby part.
