I just had an idea on how we could possibly get acknowledgement that the Chaos Dwarfs are still around. Official Acknowledgement.
In the Asia Pacific Region White Dwarf for the past like year, each month, and I believe this is a standard article in all the editions unlike the optional content we in Aus missed out on like the Specialist games coverage both the Mordheim and Necromunda campaigns! :(, Jervis Johnson has penned a column called ‘Standard Bearer’, well every month except 2, but John Blanche’s one this month has inspired me to attempt a creamy old school scheme on my own chaos Marine Army I am just starting up now.
So the thought is simple:
Get Jervis to pen some words on the Chaos Dwarfs in Standard Bearer.
It won’t be as simple as that of course, not at all.
We need to get a formal letter written up and pass it on to Jervis, we could all just old fashion spam him, but I’d rather see something of a petition with signatures adding to it all so as we can get it all in one bundle and sent in as a formal, world wide request. One way of doing this is online, but hand written mail with the stamps from the country in question ALWAYS add a depth of meaning to anything as it means that 1, you thought about what to write, 2, you spent money to send it overseas, 3, You helped kill a tree to send it off. Environmentally it isn’t as friendly as sending massed electronic emails, but then again, we’re evil. Or rather, Chaotic. And we demand Hellcannon’s be added to our list of weapons damn it!
So, my thoughts would run something along the lines of we draft up a formal proposal/request to Jervis Johnson here on the forums. Then everyone who wants to get involved in it and support it fills out a post card on the back and addresses it to Mr. J. Johnson, says hi or whatever you want, and make ita postcard that typicfies the area you are from. What we do is send it to one forum members house. That forum member collects all the postcards and seals them in a package addressed to Jervis at Standard Bearer along with the formal letter of request.
The contents of the letter should run something like:
introduction, who we represent - the CDO Forums/Community, members of the GW Gaming community and also SG gaming community WORLDWIDE. this is emphasised by all the awesome postcards that can act as a funky ass wallpaper to a design studio et al. Hee, sugar coated greetings. - formalities aside, congratulations on how Standard Bearer is written each month, how it makes us hoary old veterans (says a 23 year old…) actually read WD monthly, if only for that 2-3 page article…, - move on to explaining that we are faced by racial discrimination as a Race, and By Hashut that is just not on! We can humbly request that Jervis Johnson spends part or all of a Standard Bearer formally recognising the existence of the Chaos Dwarfs as an Official Army in the WFB world. We would like recognition that whilst GW currently cannot commit the resources to re-releasing the Chaos dwarfs as an army because they would require a re-write and would require an entirely new miniatures range for everything, we do not need this to happen. Our army list is still there, it still beats the newest army books when played properly and with skill and the army,d espite having 10 unique magic items to say 50 or so for everyone else or more, is still perfectly competitive. We want formal and official games-workshop recognition that the Chaos dwarfs still exist, that barring the second hand model market on ebay et al, that many people have converted spectacular armies of the little chaps and lasses. We don’t require anything else other then formal recognition and that recognition to extend as far as GW can, to the official tournament scene. The only reason people do not want the Chaos Dwarfs in an official Tournament is because they are so rare, very few newer players have even played against them and it can be viewed as an unnecessary hassle to explain it all to everyone. Chaos Dwarfs are a rare breed, but they still exist, and we appreciate that immensely. - We can sign off in any of a number of formal ways and request a game against Jervis or any of the people in the Design office et al if they are ever in the neighbourhood. Who knows, with all those shiny postcards (I’ll include my own address on it becaue I can) we might actually get a bit more shinyness sent our way.
I invite you to read the discussions that have taken place between Willmark and Jervis, as well as Phil Kelly. And Also conversations between Grimstonefire and Jervis.

I think that's all we will get for now.

I read a formal letter in the rumour thread from Jervis Johnson, care to link me to the rest of these aforementioned conversations/discussions.

I try not to think. As Mr Johnson once said, it inevitably leads to ideas which lead to work!
I can draft a nice, appropriate standard something. This is in the remit of my training as I work for a Sales & Marketing company.
As mentioned Grim and I have spoken to the particulars, either in person or through snail mail. Right now our best bet is to sit tight. I seems there is a desire to do chaos dwarfs but it is a matter of timing.
but really if we just send loads of letters to him then he may join the site saying stop posting me (as it would take a long time to complain to everyone seprately)now that he’s on the site we can bombard him with ideas then he
Here’s the thing… Spamming will only piss them off. would you like someone to fill your mailbox (either email or real) with the same thing over and over, to the point you want to kick them in the crotch? If you spam them, you will only aggrivate them and sooner rather than later, they will decide that the spammers are only a bunch of immature jerk-offs… Nope, spamming is the biggest, stupidest thing mentioned…
As for timing, I don’t know either. I was told that timing is always an issue with army development. Take that anyway you want. I don’t have a straight answer for you.
lol boys!! If you want someone to do what you want!! you tell them once!!! Then you
act like your no longer want it!!! Then they go out of there way to do it for you!!!Now they think it’s there idea , Then you will see the chaos dwarfs !!!

I agree, hence why I suggested that we send 1 big combined package. I saw in another thread the idea for the T-shirts and presenting them to GW Games Developers who have prescence, perhaps we could combine that idea and write Jervis a letter on behalf of our community and tell him that as a whole we appreciate GW's position on the Chaos Dwarfs as an army and re-releasing them costs money and is all about timing. We of course appreciate this and will continue using our armies as a whole, but the world shouldn't shun us because we are the minority army out there. There is a great community here full of useful advice and great armies and it's a community that spans the world. With tournaments not recognising the validity of the Chaos Dwarfs as a whole, it's really quite anathema to the cause. I'd be curious to know if there are any GW developers working with the Chaos dwarfs at all, as in playing an army or that have an army of the chaps somewhere they use occasionally, that would be great to see.
Well like jarvis and galvin i don’t put much faith in to these guy!!! it’S time to pass the torch !
Give the power to the next group of people that can have the energy to make this happen !! The cd need new rules and figures .They need to find the people that share the same passion that we have !! untill then gw will be ran in away that only elves and mortal men will have an army !!!
I'm guessing they mean where in the army book release cycle would CD slot in.
If I had to guess I would suppose we would be the last army in 7th to be done (much like I think regular Dwarves were in 6th).

lol, Kera, it works for anything involving a boy doing it. you "plant" the seed, get the idea bouncing around in their heads, then you let it grow and develop, then when they "suggest" it, you act surprised and happy, then they actually do it and you're like "wow! this is awesome! how did you know?" etc etc. then they feel all good about themselves and you get what you want.
Willmark and Grimmy have done a good job planting the seed. now we wait for them to get back to us, and then act amazingly grateful when it happens. :)
