I have some very similar pics of myself from 2 years ago when I had very similar surgery. The two tubes I had were about 4 inches long, I have no idea how the damn things fit in there! Well, hang in there, in my case it made a world of difference afterwards…and in hindsight if I had known that breaking my nose 3 times within 2 years as a teenager would eventually lead to this surgery, I would of cut down on my teenage shenanigans.
Surgery on the other eye went well. Far more scar tissue in the tear duct however so I’m expecting more swelling compared to last time. I can take the patch off tomorrow. I expect it because it was more painful then last time. Surgery took longer this time around too.
Willmark just think with our healthcare here in the states Your the new 6 million dollar man… Did i every tell you you make a sexy pirate… just a couple of laugh to help with your healing
The custom title isn’t empty words after all. Gotta live up to it now and then.
Jokes aside do hope for a speedy recovery. Laughter is the best medicine I’ve heard so just doing my part. Laughing at works as well as laughing with, no? Unlike my so-called doctor dad I’ll actually have a real doctorate, sometime soon hopefully. So I’m almost a real life Patch Adams.
No need to worry. I have a dry sense of humor as well.
Had my first post op appointment this AM. Things are healing well, but the docs probing in my eye? Owww.
Much more work required this time. When he got into the surgery I had an active infection deep in the sinus that had it 100% blocked, add the existing scar tissue…
My pain is barely there if at all. Underlying bone is still tender in spots. I have 2 more weeks of antibiotic eye drops and one more week of ointment for the incision.
After that I can start wearing my contacts again. Yah!
On April 30th I have to go in for a 2nd surgery on the right eye. That was the first one operated on in march 2012. Turns out I’m in that “lucky” 5-10% that the initial surgery is not effective on.
So for those keeping track at home, that’s the third surgery overall.
This time they go in through the nose (for the most part) and widen the duct even further. This time around they are apparently using some cryogenic solution to freeze the bone to stop it from overreacting in the healing process.
The right eye was good for over a year but started acting up last August. We tried treating it with drops but the duct had closed down to the point where it was 90% blocked again.
Turns out I'm in that "lucky" 5-10% that the initial surgery is not effective on.

I know that feeling, except I just had surgery redone that has a 0.4% failure rate. If it fails again then I'll buy a lottery ticket - failing odds that low twice must give me a corresponding success somewhere!
