[Archive] [T9A] Bulls on Parade (4500) 2.0 Beta Update

Miasma:

Greetings All,

So I have been thinking a lot lately about my Infernal Dwarfs and how I think that they could potentially be a fairly speedy army, as a result of this I have been toying with the below list, however having a slight issue with finishing it.

Prophet - 610/370

Wizard Master, Alchemy, 4 Learned Spells, Book of Arcane Power, Ring of Fire, Hardened Shield, Temple Lamasu

Taurukh Subjugator - 430 pts

Paired Weapons, Vial of Mercury

Vizier - 300/300

BSB, Dragonscale Helm, Flaming Lance, Talisman of Greater Shielding, Bull of Shamut

20 Hobgoblins - 170 pts

Bows, Musician

40 Infernal Warriors - 960 pts

Great Weapons, Shields, Musician, Standard Bearer, Banner of Speed

5 Hobgoblin Wolf Riders - 160 pts

Bows, Musician

5 Taurukh - 230 pts

Paired Weapons, Musician

5 Taurukh - 230 pts

Paired Weapons, Musician

5 Taurukh Anointed - 740 pts

Paired Weapons, Musician, Standard Bearer, Rending Banner

Pro’s of the List;

- 5 Scoring Units

- Fast Combat Units

- Target Saturation

Cons of the List;

- Limited Drops

- Vulnerable to cannons

- Not a lot of Chaff

So I want to keep the large unit of Infernal Dwarfs, Taurukh and Anointed and also need the Hobgoblins to make Core Requirements, which basically means that I would need to replace the Characters and Mounts if I want to make changes.

I am also working on an Infantry version of this list with the typical Overlord Build which I am not such a fan of at the moment as it is rather cut and paste with added Taurukh Anointed

Thoughts? Comments?

TheHoodedMan:

At first this is a very cool list :cheers.

Dragonscale shield means probably Dragonscale helm + shield.

You already mentioned the problem with cannons, but not only that, a HBE army with massed shooting and 2 combat casters can pose some problems for your flying chars, too.

But otherwise you have lots of tools on the table.

I found the lore of pyromancy a little more versatile the last games unless you know what army you will play against. You don`t really need the Alchemy attribute in this list from my point of view.

Maybe I would even change the Infernal Warriors to Citadel guards with flint locks (20) and try to squeeze in another hobgoblin unit.

Personally I prefer the hobgoblin chieftain as a redirector to the wolf riders. Needs less space and can be a little protected in a unit until he is needed.

TheHoodedMan
Thank you lots of thinking, testing and planning has gone into getting the list to this stage, plus I do love the Bull Centaur Models both the Old School Big Hats and the Newer FW Sculpts so to be able to run both in a single list is pretty cool for me. :cheers

TheHoodedMan
Yes although looking at it now, I don't have the points for a Shield so just the Helm, OP Amended thank you

TheHoodedMan
I don't know too many people who play T9A except a WotDG, Dwarven Holds and Pestilent Daemon player so at the moment I am relatively safe from HBE for the time being.

TheHoodedMan
I never really know what Lore to choose for my casters had the same issue back in 8th Edition, will play around with the Lores and see which I like the best

TheHoodedMan
At the moment I am currently light on models as in I "only" have 40 Metal Big Hats and 20 Blunderbuss dwarfs, I do however want to splash out on some of the Russian Alternatives soon to expand my collection and be able to play with some other choices.

TheHoodedMan
Good call, for some reason I thought I had maxed out my character choice but clearly had not, will look into this

EDIT: And just now realised that I was using an outdated version of Battlescribe....DAMMIT

Miasma:

firstly apologies for the double post, had a few hours playing with Battlescibe and stumbled across something which may or may not be illegal? Not too sure early morning, late night and a few brewski’s have made this an interesting experience.

Carcearion
I know really excited about this force, currently have the majority of the Big hats getting stripped from my terrible attempts over the years of painting, just need to pick up the Forgeworld Taurukh as well as a few other things so going to be a long slow labour of love.

Anyway, have been thinking about the list, am currently looking at the below as the above list is illegal (damn Magic Item Allowance)

Miasma:

Ok so i have decided to work on the list a little more and feel that I am getting closer to something that I would like to play on the table top, I am unsure about the BSB but short of running him on foot in the Flintlock I am running out of idea’s as I do not want to put the BSB on the Subjugator

Miasma:

So I have been playing and tinkering with the list for a little while now, I made the below changes about a month ago and have had a couple of games with the list since then. Characters - 1395/1800

Core - 1134/1125

Special - 1970/unlimited

Barrage - 0/900

Bound & Binders- 0/1575

The general tactics (if they can be called that) is that the BSB and Prophet General joins up with the Immortals to act as a solid point denial unit, I have not lost the unit or characters in the past couple of games. In only 1 game so far has the unit actually managed to make combat.

The Anointed and Subjugator combination is fantastic and literally blends away both Hordes of Cheap troops and elite infantry, I have not yet encountered any high toughness units/characters or big Cavalry units which may prove difficult.

My Core I absolutely love, people that I face simply are not prepared for 111 disposable models backed up by speedy units and a couple of hard hitters, I still think that I may need some additional Chaff in the form of either Hobgoblin Chiefs or additional ranged threats in the form of Bolt Throwers, I have already considered trimming the Immortals or Anointed to make these changes but still need to keep to my minimum of 10 games before additional changes are made.

Finally the baby Taurukh I also adore both model wise and the role on the tabletop, I use these to grab secondary objectives due to their higher speed and small footprint, in times of dire need they also can be used as hard chaff.

Miasma:

So purely because I like to come back to these things I have been looking at getting back into playing larger games and after reading this thread back over the past couple of days I thought I would post up the list that I plan on testing out in the first couple of weekends of 2018.

Zanthrax:

I like it ! Will be keen to hear how it goes in 2.0

TheHoodedMan:

So much greenskins, don`t you be afraid of them running away in the midst of battle ;-)?

Serious:

A greenskin core looks much on the table but is it stable?

You only have the lugars as a solid block.

Probably I would field the lugars without a hero and instead take a second ID unit in core with a “normal” BSB.

But maybe I am too cautious :).

A really nice list and I like the fast moving and scoring parts.

HPN:

Well, Lugar without the hero IMHO lose their main feature: scoring+unbreakable.

And since they hit like a wet blanket, having someone carrying a great weapon or enchanted weapon of sort, helps against tougher targets that may seek to engage you.

Too bad that with the last beta hotfix, Lugar Chosen’s cost has been increased by 50 pt. :frowning:

Abecedar:

Love reading this T9A even if I have no idea what most of the bits actually mean. Fun with imagination I call it.

It's interesting, the constant rule changes and hotfixes are getting a bit annoying. Feels like a change every couple of months but at least I haven't had to make drastic changes yet.

TheHoodedMan
Yeah fleeing core is an issue although by that time they have served their purposes or I have a serious uphill struggle. I will be making changes in the near future and switching this to my FW themed list once I get my Norba dwarfs

HPN
Yes the increase hasn't helped but I love the idea of the unit and can't really see what else I would play as not got anything suitable for Kadims at the moment

All good, it's how most of my games go if I am honest

Miasma:

Right then, I have noticed over the past couple of months that my meta is slowly changing away from MSU lists with more larger blocks popping up. In an effort to hopefully outgrind these larger blocks I thought I would try out the below.

Vizier, BSB, Shield, Infernal Weapon, Ghostly Guard, Mask of the Furnace, Flaming Banner
