[Archive] tactics vs beastmen?

Method:

what are some good tactics ve beastmen, not requiring magic?

i have a escalation campaign vs them and no assess to a wizard, or terror causing  monster. just troops.

Hm. That makes things a little trickier. When you say Troops, do you mean just core troops? And is the beastmen player in a similar position?

I would simply try and fit in as many Chaos Dwarfs as possible. Multiple units of Blunderbusses should still do well, despite the beastmen skirmishing. Try and hit as many Ungor as possible, as they are T3. Get them taking panic tests and its all over (Ld6 basic for Beastmen).
Warriors with Hand weapon/shield are also good, as Gor are only S3, so they won't break you easily. The chariots/Minotaurs will be a pain, but I'm guessing the campaign rules will stop him taking too many of those? Bolt Throwers are your bet against these, if you can take any.
Sneaky Gits are also good, as Beastmen wear little or no armour, so poison really hurts them.

Method:

well i get 2 warmachines. he has access to 1 warmachine (chariot) and monster (minotaurs.) problem is, boltthrowers die to ambush.

right now i’m fielding

2 units of 18 bb

2 unis of 10 naked hobs

2 units of 20 light/armor shield hobgoblins

1 b- thrower

1 earthshaker.

my hero general has armor of gharsh (sp)

and great weapon’in a unit of bb.

think i should field wolfriders?

Willmark:

Hobgob wolf riders are one of the best units in the game and extremely useful. I’d say field them no matter what.

w3rm:

Kill 'em with FIRE!

Hashut’s Blessing:

Replace some naked hobbos with sneaky gits.

Not sure the Earthshaker will be much use.

I would be careful about using blunderbusses against any skirmishing units. my friend used some chaos furies to charge them, he kept them far until he charged. he also kept them at about a 45 deg. angle from the blunderbusses front.
because of the line-type position he put them in, leading the charge with just one fury; and the rules state that the stand and shoot response would happen as soon as the target becomes within range, I only got to shoot one fury!:mad
