[Archive] Thanquol and considerations on 9th edition

Dînadan:

As for the CDs Im sure some northern or western keep/outpost have survived. They can't remove all of the dark lands without removing the world edge mountains and parts of Khemri as well...

Fortunately for me, my army is based in Uzkulak, so worst comes to the worst I can just say they hijacked one of the fleets docked there and legged it out to sea just in time; farewell more southern based lords :hat off

Even more fortunately, my local club is currently seriously leaning towards sticking to 8th ed, so there's a good chance I'll get to avoid the cataclysm full stop ;)

Being serious, I'm sure some remnants of the Dawi-Zharr Empire will survive; aside from the aforementioned navy being able to put out to sea and hopefully reach somewhere safe in time, there's also the daemonsmiths and their entourages accompanying the Chaos Hordes, plus any slaving expeditions currently operating in the safe areas and like vanilla Dwarfs, Chaos Dwarfs dig deep so aside for direct impacts by something really heavy duty there's a chance some might survive by retreating to the deeper holds and using them as nuclear bunkers (presumably when they return to the surface, between the mutations from the warpstone and the abandoned tech they left behind, they'll return to find the Dark Lands are now some sort of Mad Max parody :P)

cornixt:

CDs can create volcanoes, so I’m pretty sure they can protect themselves against comets in some way too.

Im sure Zharr-Naggrund have enough rockets to create some kind of shield like the “Strategic Defense Initiative”.
