A friend of mine has just started his 3rd fantasy army the Skaven so I desided to challenge him to a mini campaign.
The first up was a battle in the mountain pass leading into Crookback mountain (played using the defend the pass senario of course) as the Skaven try to breakout from the CDs who stand sentry over the vile rat men. Whoever won that battle would take the fight to the enemy and invade their holdings.
I had a strong looking battle line…and then I saw just how much stuff was in his army! His doom wheels broke through my flank, toasted my deathrockets and in one lucky turn of shooting zapped my lords greater taurus into oblivon (2S8, 1S10 hit, multiople wounded into about 6/7 ultra-high S wounds that killed it instantly) 1 turn before it was about to tear into the back of his 9x9 unit of clanrats w/screaming bell that had just slammed into my imovable wall of GW Warriors.
My blunderbuss managed to get 3 turns of shooting into a block of clanrats only to inflict a misrable 8! kills (and this is with the Indy list!)
and I managed to hold his right flank in place with a big block of rabble and my inferno golems who managed to take on a unit of giant rats, and a big pack of rat ogres AND a doomwheel for 5 turns before finally going down.
Even so my center didn’t have the numbers to hold there own and were slowly whittled down ending the game with a mere 6! models left from my army.
Not the best day for the Dawi Zharr…
Anyway now the ratmen are attacking the trenchlines and gun emplacements before the great Bastion Walls of Gorgoth, The Black Tower. Can they smash through into the machine shops and slave pits of the Dawi Zharr? Tune in next week for part 2! of this mighty story!
