Joshmohr:
So, i was playing at a tournoment today. I was doing well, and couldnt help but notice most ppl had printed-up codex’s… Is this normal? I mean, i know people view them to see what the armie is like, but never heard of them using it in a tournoment (that is hosted by GW!). Any comments?
GRNDL:
One could argue that its fair use - reasonable circumstances. Someone makes a copy for durability while play, a back up if you will. That’s the only way I see it as legal.

It's technically illegal, but it's up to GW to enforce their own IP in that stance. If they choose not to enforce it, then it's still illegal, but GW's choosing not to prosecute in this case.
warh:
if it’s like the blood angles codex it would not bee illegal
you can download it from GWs website.
but if it is a codex or army book you can buy in a store it would bee illegal.
Swissdictator:
What a lot of people in my area have done to protect the mini rulebook is to go to kinkos and get it laminated and put in a spiral binding. Some even add little tabs (like you see in binders) to make certain sections of rules easier to find.
I assume you could do the same with the army books, if you really want to protect them.

I did this before sometimes, printing out the summary of my opponent’s armylist, but I stopped with it as I wanted to get some ‘raw’ experience. I think it’s very useful though, I’m personally always asking for a unit’s stats anyway
