[Archive] Thorgars Legion of the Black Fortress

Thorgar:

Hey folks, ive created this blog to.showcase my FW Chaos Dwarfs. So far I have a Deathshrieker which is receiving finishing touches. With Tamurkhan, some Infernal Guard and an Iron Daemon (courtesy of RiTides) on the way. Eventually ill get some command and more IF. Pics to follow! I am going for a gritty realistic look to match the vibe given in the Tamurkhan book.

I’ll be the first to say … Nice start there. The grey over=tones on the skin look good. I’m not a fan of the “grey skin fluff/Idea” from Tamurkhan as a whole. I tried for a dirty look with my colour scheme but it ended up in my view too dirty and washed out. At least in the photos.

The lava bases look good too. I collected my army before painting and found the thought of doing lava on all my models was very daunting. The people I’ve seen here who do it from the word Go as they get their models have a lot more success

Thanks, I dont particularly like the idea of stone grey skin on them either. Unless its a sorceror turning to stone. Lava isnt that hard actually, or you could just use it on important models like a daemonsmith or command. I plan on randomising it.

Thorgar:

finished (need to redo base)

Yodrin:

That’s a great start. Nice colors and very nicely painted!!

Grimstonefire:

I very much like the feel of this. You’ve got that look you were going for perfectly I think.

Fuggit Khan:

A really nice start :cheers

Personally I am not too much a fan of the FW models themselves (yes, they are well designed and sculpted, but just not my ‘thing’)…but I do always really enjoy seeing the FW models painted so well, like yours.

Great colors and a nice touch with the models really capturing the look and feel of the Tamurkhan book illustrations.

:hat off

Thorgar:

Thanks, personally I love the FW models. The cost has kept me away for a while though. Until recently ive been consumed by the Horus Heresy, if anyone wants to see my work on that its here: Sons of Horus Im sad they havent done any Hobgoblins, some of FWs excuses baffle me.

NoisyAssassin:

Gorgeous!

Zanthrax:

Looking really good especially the bases - keep the updates coming

Admiral:

Very tasty rocket launcher. This visit, I can’t see the second post’s pictures. Do anyone else have this problem?

Bloodbeard:

Nice start you have there. I really like the colour scheme. A chaos dwarf army should look used, dirty, gritty. It works!

Sticklander:

I really like how dark they’re painted, but yet there’s enough bright colours to balance it out. Really really like the chaos dwarf characters.

Xander:

Whoa, this is terrific stuff. Love the muted colour scheme. Very effective.

Thorgar:

small update

nightmare

Xander:

Muster the troops!

Yodrin:

Got some work to do I see ;), but keep it going, its gonna be great when your done;)

Thorgar:

test

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Love that brown! What is that??
