@GRNDL: Hehe, damn you are on to me…

@Loki: Thing is that I share appartment with a friend and we are both hardcore gamers rpg/boardgames/miniatures etc. So our common areas of the appartment more or less looks like a game club with games/terrain/minis stored everywhere…

Wish my wife ‘‘allowed’’ me to put up a table like that! :stuck_out_tongue:

We got a bit carried away when building terrain for our FoW campain that we run at our place at the moment... Struggle for Stalingrad
Ill be moving in with my girl in a few months though, so sadly I wont be able to play games like this at home anymore. Atleast not as we do now... :P

Loki:

Epic table, you must have some great games on that

Romanian T-3 tanks. (Panzer III N)

PsychosisPC:

That’s good stuff. Not really a FoW guy but I can appreciate good tank work, that’s fine stuff, especially at that scale. I’ve been dabbling a bit in historicals myself lately.

Loki:

Great looking T-3 tanks, now that blitzkrieg is coming out are you going to be doing a early war army ?

I got really disapointed on the EW releases with a book a year, so Ill wait untill I can field a company of T-28 :) Operation Barbarossa/Finland book that is...

Zuh-Khinie:

I myself and some friends play WW2 games at largely the same scale as you do (1/72)

We use the ‘rapid fire!’ rules, which imo are the most ‘realistic’ (though not the most user friendly) rules you can find out there…

After a few games, and after you’ve gotten the hang of it, you’ll never want to play anything else again.

As a plus, they already have all rulebooks and scenariobooks you’d need or want to play most of the important battles/skirmishes of WW2 in europe.

http://www.rapid-fire.uk.com/index.htm

The models we use are from SHQ…I can assure you that my british paratroopers are among the finest models I’ve ever seen used in this scale of gaming…

The american paratroopers all got pictures… just look them up and see for yourself if you like them (don’t mind most of the paintjobs though)

http://www.shqminiatures.co.uk/Ranges/WWII/WWIImain.php?UID=20100825181447212.123.0.8

(The fact that most of the models haven’t got pictures doesn’t really bother me, seeing as SHQ makes a stop in Belgium every year during our local gaming event called ‘Crisis’)

FoW are 1/100 and there are 2-5 infantry on every base, dont know if it might be a problem. Anyway, we have been discussing to try out different rule systems but never actually got around to do it. I know FoW has far from the best rules out there, atleast they saticfy my intresst for WWII and models. But thanks for the tip, Ill have a look at it later... :)

Zuh-Khinie:

flames of war models are just about half a head smaller than SHQ models… the vehicles made by FoW on the other hand are hideously off scale in my opinion.

Normally, in rapid fire!, your models need to be placed on seperate bases (I use 1 (euro)cent pieces for this, and it works fanastically)
Btw, eurocents are magnetic, so you can just take a crate and put magnetfoil (?) on the bottom using glue, and transport your models in said fashion (I do it, and it works awesomely)

So yes, the big bases might be a problem… you play with a lot of line of sight rules (for example, you can only kill as much models as you can see), and overwatch rules.

However, take a look at the free quick play rules on the website… maybe, if you really like it, you can get your models off of their big bases, and put them on smaller ones.

Damn… just spent the last couple hours at work here reading over this thread… looking at all the pretty pictures… and now have your other thread to go through ( gotta love google translator… can translate the swedish into english and read all about the stuggle of stalingrad  )…

Amazing how much you got done over this thread though… but beware… moving in with your better half will cut your gaming dramatically :frowning: … hopefully your friends will be able to kidnap you for some epic games like this in the future also

Wow… really turning into a something else blog now ain’t it? How do you find the Dystopian Wars models though? Am kinda curious as to how they are and the level of detail and ease of putting them together?

I like them, they look alot better than I thought. The detail is amazing, no air bubbles or miscast of any kind... :)

For my FSA, they smaller ships are a single peice.
Medium ship+deck canon+optional deck thing.
Big ship+deck canon+deck canon+optional deck thung.
Fighters and bombers are single peices.

Loki:

Cool looking Dystopian Wars models i do there other game system called uncharted seas i think the models are a bit bigger than the Dystopian Wars ones but they are great as well
