[Archive] Unitbases/ Regimentsbases

TheHoodedMan:

Hi there,
I look for advice on my unitbases. At the moment I use simply blank metal sheets for my otherwise most time full painted army. They are very useful and versatile but an aesthetically nightmare :).
On the mid term I am going to solve that problem.

That is the actual situation:

Is there a good producer for beautiful unitbases out there? Maybe I would even consider to rebase my army if I find just the right kind of base.
It could be kind of Chaos bases, or ruined babylon temple. or lava style like mine or better.

Self building is a possibility, too, but then only fitting with my present lava bases.

edit: I need a lot of them, at least different 5+ big ones for the big units (30, 35, 40, different width and the monstrous units) and different 5+ for 10, 20, 25 models.
They should be magnetic or at least have the option to make them magnetic.

Thanks
Hood

Movement trays? Mantic have just released a set of modular movement trays.

I make them myself, from thick heavy cardboard. I add a rim, border with sprue or the same cardboard. Easy, fast, cheap.

So I have for the different sized units I have. You can see them in ny blog.

I’ll send you some sheets if you want.

I make movement trays from broken transparent plastic CD covers. In every bulk pack there are always some broken ones that get tossed at work. I ask the IT guys to save those for me. then I chop them to fit the unit size. It’s not a perfect solution, but generally works and lets some of the tabletop colors through wherever the plastic shows. I multi-base but tend to tack glue the models to the base for KoW. You can take a look at my IG unit on the Wardens of the Red Queen blog 3rd page I think for an example.

I use this company: http://www.sarissa-precision.com/Movement_Trays/cat1603369_2601471.aspx

Super cheap postage. Quality mdf trays, laser cut to fit your needs. It cost a bit of money, but remove a good portion of some very boring hobby work.

Very good tip, Malorndk! I hope your army ends up on unit bases fully suitable for your nice bases, THM.
