Hello! I got some potential leaks from the same guy that leaked the DE units. This is regarding the GW vanilla Dwarfs. Sorry if this is a duplicate thread.
- There will be more magic activity and movement than before (something everybody expect).
- The runes system is going to be like now but with some changes in the “laws”. Some of them are going to reduce their point cost and there will be less options. Basically are going to be created magic items, some people speak about add runes into already existing magic items from rulebook… with some blacksmith skill…
- Runelords will have some changes, they will have innate spells (like empire warrior priests). And the anvil will make those spells stronger.
- Rune combos in warmachines are going to suffer nerfs. There will be a cost point reduction but also the destruction capacity will be decreased (except for the organ cannon, that will become a nightmare…)
- Points cost reduction in infantry.
- They speak about robot/rock golems similars to Blackrock Deeps in world of warcraft.
The old dwarf book does suffer some from being 6th edition. The runes really should be bound spells - it would add a lot more to y playing as a dwarf.
I’m really afraid that GW will mess up the lore of the dwarfs by adding too much crazy big stuff. But of cause theyll do that, because every army must be allmost identical now a days. But I’ll wait an see what clumsy-cartoonish-mega-game-breaker-thingymabob they’ll get.
I’m mostly glad that the Dawi Zhar community will get a lot of new dwarf bits to work with. New machines and troops to covert - that will be interresting to see.
But on the other hand the quick athletic blackguard/executioners were really static and boring - what’s gonna happen with small stunties? They’re even supposed to have that feeling about them.¨
Secondly I’m looking forward too seeing the price - if the “might as well buy titan-forge og forge world” price spiral will continue. … 35 £ for core unit witch elves that tactically should by brought in hordes of 40.
But two guys i mine group of warhammer friends field dwarves - so it will bring some new life into our games.
Horrible price spiral aside, this holds some promise for improvements to the range. Some miniatures, like the metal Longbeards, will be hard to beat whether in plastic or other material, but otherwise I hope GW is up to the challenge put forth indirectly by AoW: Produce the best Dwarfs ever created!
Granted, GW came close with their own Lotr Dwarf range.
It’s a small shame that GW once again seems to miss the chance to put out a Dwarf Brewmaster hero choice (with optional Drunken Dwarfs upgrades for units). Gamewise the new book will probably be a huge step in the right direction and make the army more enjoyable to field and face. That’s at least what’s needed.
I’ll pick only what I like about the new big toys, including their fluff. Any silly golems and the like will probably be ignored for fantasy Dwarfs, though they (and that tunneller) sounds VERY interesting to Squats in 40k.

Bring on the beards!

Bugmans healing beer is great, and a drunken dwarf regiment would be glorious.
As for the golems I do hope they make it into the final book. I have been missing something big and scary in my dwarf army.
The tunneler is hands down my pants the thing I am the most excited for.
If this means I can use underground advance with other units then miners I am all over it.
@GDD: Just to clarify. This is one great thing with this hobby, as opposed to watching movies or playing video games with fictive settings. Players are entirely free to include or discard parts of their faction from the collection based on their vision of it. New monsters and toys to existing armies won’t ruin anyone’s day even if they would happed to hate them. Just use what you want, folks.
Even though I probably won’t welcome any golems into my WHFB army I still like their addition to the range, since they’ve become archetypical for Dwarfs and will suit many other Dawi players’ tastes.

I think that they may be purposely avoiding it, since many countries have laws about the promoting of alcohol to the underaged.
@Admiral I honestly think wood elfs, or even bretonia deserves an update first, but I play Dwarfs so I don’t care
@Yodrin I bought my Dwarf army first, and as much as I love GW’s dwarfs their play style feels broken. You have to buy a Runepriest/Lord just to dispel stuff, you are too slow to go anywhere so you have to make a defensive formation that has to hold against scouts, flyers, redirectors, and MAGIC. We have miners and rangers but they only work against certain armies I feel… But all of this seems to change for the better now!
Fluff and feel matters a lot to me, but Chaos Dwarfs right now are awesome to play, and that obviously matters a lot to enjoy games. And they are still sitting at a solid second place when it comes to feel.
While I look forward to seeing the models and I’ve bought all the Dwarf books up to now, I haven’t bought any of the 8th ed army books and I don’t intend to start.
