[Archive] Vogon's Random stuff

Vogon:

I?Tve decided to try to get more of my masses of untouched miniatures painted so I?Tm starting a new thread partly to show what I?Tve been up to and partly to get some critique and advice to improve my painting.

It will be updated fairly irregularly and the stuff is likely to be pretty random.

First up is a new Slann Mage Priest which I bought and painted as a birthday present for my lad who has been playing Warhammer for a few months and has started a Lizardmen army.

More to follow.

Thanks, I really didn't want a clear plastic flying stand in there.

There?Ts a bit of a story there.

I saw an auction on eBay for ?oWarhammer Figures? it had a picture of an old Tyranid Screamer Killer and a few other bits and bobs I wasn?Tt interested in (maybe half a dozen miniatures pictured) but I fancied adding another Screamer Killer to my old ?~Nid army. The auction was at a low price but the postage was pretty high(£9.50). I stuck a bid of £10 just to see what would happen and actually won the auction for £8 and change.

When the lot arrived it was actually a large shoe box crammed full of old metal and plastic miniatures of all sorts. There were High Elves, Orcs, Goblins, Skaven, Giant Spiders and bats, more Tyranids, some Orc Man O?T War stuff and some Chaos warriors (no Chaos Dwarfs though) I?Tve slowly been off loading bits and bobs on eBay or sharing them out amongst my gaming group for the last few weeks but I loved that miniature and decided to keep it and paint it up for use as a Goblin Shaman.

I still have a good quarter of the box but mostly plastics now.

Thanks !! now i'm going to have nightmares

Bloodbeard:

The little doll reminds me of a very silly Cthulhu… or perhaps Dr. Zoidberg. Anyways the goblin has an awesome taste in dolls.

Yodrin:

Sweet!!!

So as I can’t update my Chaos Dwarf army blog as the next thing I’m painting for that will be for the Golden Hat here’s a couple of Chaos Warriors that I’m working on.

They haven’t been based yet and the second one is a test model for the rank and file guys, a fairly quick and easy colour scheme.

I’d love to know your thoughts

Bloodbeard:

The skeleton dude is such a cool miniature. He can fit into so many armies and can be converted to all most anything.

The otjer Chaos Warrior is almost like the ones from hero quest. I love all those minis. He could use a bit more colour though or heavier wash/shading.

Yodrin:

I agree with Bloodbeard, the warrior could use more color. The first one looks nice though

Vogon:

Thanks guys, I’ll have another crack at the Rank and file model and add a bit more colour or something.

It is indeed one of the old Hero Quest guys I have about 30 of them to paint up which is why I was after a quick colour scheme.

No, that’s one of GW’s monopose Chaos Warriors. They look quite similar to the Heroquest models but have a slightly different stance and come on a slottabase rather than a base being part of the model. Like most of the GW monopose plastics, they were impossible to rank up properly.

ClawLeader:

Mmm monopose, got to love them.

Love the jester model and I like the colors on the slaan. You did a fantastic job

Well you live and learn. I had always thought the monopose and the Heroquest were one and the same. I've certainly seen the monopose with a slottabase being advertised on ebay as Heroquest. One of the reasons I always chuckled at the prices.
