And, to finish off today’s post (I think my fingers have been worn to the bone with all the typing), a new monster has been sighted in Forge World - the Magma Dragon. This gargantuan beast is a truly impressive sight that looms over nearby infantry units and even puts other dragon miniatures to shame in terms of its sheer bulk. Keith Robertson, the man behind the sculpting tool, spent a great deal of time on this kit, even going to the trouble of sculpting every single scale individually. Overall, it’s a very impressive piece and it’s available to advance order from the Forge World website right now.
I really like this one and although I don’t play Storm of Magic that much I may get one for my Chaos Dwarfs for when I do have a game. Magma is just so appropriate

Not only is it a lovely model, but it’s not too far from the Monstrous Arcana artwork! Not the same, but close enough for my taste
GSF: I think it’s a magma dragon because of its natural habitat and what it breathes, etc. IIRR (which I think I don’t), it may also be that his hide glows like magma with the scales being like the rock that solidifies from it (like I say, I think I’m making that up though ).
EDIT: Not a huge fan of the beak, it looks more like a wide mouth in the artwork, but I don’t hate it Also, just wanted to say he should’ve spent less time sculpting each individual scale and more time making the pieces fit together better - very big/obvious joint-gaps.
Still, I think in this particular model, given the theme, he would have done better to cover it in very large scales rather than tiny ones.
This one has absolutely nothing to indicate any connection to the theme just looking at it. Which is a big mistake imo considering how ‘easy’ it should have been.
If it had been anywhere close to this guy I would have bought it as soon as possible, irrespective of price.
i love this dragon - the thicker limbs and torso make it so different than the usual GW dragons. Any idea on the price?

Your first born male child and two viles of unicorn tears (2-3oz. preferably). That's pretty steep, but considering the FW Destroyer is going to cost not one, but TWO Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks to the face AND a drop of Charlie Sheens Tiger blood. I can't imagine many people being able to afford such luxury.

Honestly I think that Forge World stuff has become much more reasonable lately.
I'd expect this one to come in around the £60 - £70 mark based on size compared to say the Rogue Idol of Gork (or possibly Mork).
This seems to be the default price for most of the big monsters released recently.

Either way my check is in the mail, and I'm already strengthening up my chops so my jaw doesn't fall through the floor when they release the price details.
I'm thinking it might be closer to Tamurkhan prices based on the base size. So 80-90GBP wouldn't surprise me. After all it is a lot of forge world resin, which acroding to my conversion estimates is valued just below that of platinum.
Primordial and vicious examples of their kind, Magma Dragons are malignant and reclusive; squat and heavily armoured monsters whose bodies radiate a fierce heat. They dwell in the volcanic ranges of the Dark Lands and in the smouldering peaks of the Blackspine Mountains, having long become one with their fiery environment.
Their favoured prey is great beasts such as Manticore or Chimera, but fortunately for the Old World Magma Dragons only venture forth to slay and destroy when the great storms of magic rage or when they arrogantly wish to avenge some perceived slight.
The Magma Dragon is a multi-part resin model designed by Keith Robertson. This incredibly detailed model is an impressive 7.5" (190 mm) long from claw to tail, and makes a fantastic centrepiece for any Warhammer army. Rules for this savage creature can be found in Monstrous Arcanum, and it is available to pre-order now for despatch from Friday 28th September.
The Magma Dragon will be on sale on the Forge World stand at Games Day UK on Sunday 23rd September, in limited numbers.
I don’t like the idea of ‘big fat lizard with tiny wings’ itself but this “miniature” is very well sculpted. And I think this lizard looks much better as Lizardmen super-heavy beast (without the wings of course)
