I’ve been reading through the story again, and it strikes me that you could look upon it two ways.
1. We got some slaves, some important knowledge and what does an iron lord like Drazhoath care for the lives of a few thousand CD?
2. We got our iron covered hides kicked across the Empire, lost a load of warmachines and lost pretty much a third of the garrison of the Black Fortress (more or less).
Admittedly I’m still only about half way through the story again, so this is pre-empting the final battle. Just combining my refreshed memories with old ones.

Since Chaos Dwarfs are pretend people from a pretend world, I don’t think it matters whether they won or lost. They’re the bad guys, even if they’re your army - they’re supposed to lose.

I think its safe to say that it was definately a loss when we consider the loss of life and war machines as well as the loss of the entire war against the empire
BUT
If we consider the knowledge and sights that the daemonsmiths saw on their merry little trip to nuln they may have taken inspiration for some truely horrific warmachines (who needs a daemon possessed land train if you have a daemon possessed land ship 
) as well as all the wonderful slaves we get right, and you can never have enough slaves

fluffwise maybe, but not gamewise. the other day i was playing a CD army with my empire. I lost everything. 10 knights. 62 halberds. 25 handgunners. 2 master engineers. 2 captains. 15 greatswords. 5 outriders. 1 great cannon. 1 steam tank. 4 wizards. 20 free company. lutor huss. 1 warrior preist.
he lost a daemonsmith, 3 infernal guard with fireglaves, 4 with hand weapons and sheids.
