Pertruabo:
Hi guys
so for the Forge World limited edition model in 2011,they release the Hell smith model,So I have a question. What does Hell smith do actually in their society?Aare they the smiths that made their engines of war ? And whats their differences with Daemon smiths? I need some info on the hellsmith so I could give my commission painter some background info to influence his work!
Thanks!
furrie:
I belief hellsmith is just another name for a daemon smith
gIL^:
Daemonsmiths were a term used to bind daemons in the novel grudgebearer hellsmiths I believe are the same
Admiral:
Pretty much. There’s no background for them, but we can imagine that Hellsmiths are a certain Daemonsmith rank or specialist “job” among Daemonsmiths. Esoteric stuff like daemonsmithing is bound to naturally create an avalanche of oddball specialisation which is hard for us to imagine.
Thommy H:
I’ve depicted them as apprentice Daemonsmiths in my background, but basically it’s just a variant term, yeah.
Bloodbeard:
I believe it’s just the same thing. But “hell smith” as a term is used a couple of times in Thamurkhan, and in some other forms. The forges of the chaos dwarfs are mentioned as hell forges.
It was the Chaos Dwarf Sorcerer, also known daemonsmith and hell-workers.
Thamurkhan on Daemonsmiths and Sorcerers
That speaks to it being the same thing.
Chaos Dwarfs, they favour the arcane binding of Daemons through the sorcerous lore of Hashut in their most powerfull devices instead. The end result can sometimes be no less dangerous to the hellsmith or crewman called upon to direct such a weapon.
Thamurkhan on machines, madness, massacre
I’m not got at grammar. But iI think this also speak to hell-smiths being the same. As in the bind demons to machines. Unless the sentence are to be read as if they are crew.
Regarded as one of the true works of a Daemonsmith’s craft, neophyte sorcerer-engineers vie with each other to produce the most deadly magma cannons of their own design.
Thamurkhan on magma cannons
Thommy H use “hell smith” as a term for an apprentice daemonsmith. A great idea. Something a long the lines of one having to work with hell, before capturing the demon who dwell there.
Now we also have sorcerer-engineers and neophytes. A neophyte is a beginner, a recently ordained priest or a convert to a new religion. So I guess we have our apprentices here.
Anyways. It seems like we can combine hell, smith, demon, daemon, sorcerer, engineer in any way we like to describe the heroes of the Dawi Zharr. Every chaos dwarf is a smith, but not everyone builds machines and do magic or demonbinding.
But I’m sure the hierarchical society of Zharr Naggrund has a number of different names for the casts or ranks of sorcerers. Astrogoth having some insanely long job description.

Ok cool,So what I get is,Hellsmith is another name for Daemonsmith or an apprentice Daemonsmith. But in the end they are still Daemonsmiths right? that made the Chaos dwarf armour and engines of war?
