wallacer:

Old Felix certainly doesn’t scrimp on the detail.

Hrothgar Goldgreed:

;)

Ghrask Dragh:

Now that Felix does his own casting he can get right to it as soon as he finishes the sculpt, how cool is that!!

dedwrekka:

For those who remember it, there’s a picture of a Chaos Lord next to a (chaos?) Dwarf Lord that appeared in the WFB rulebook, and was used in the Warriors of Chaos book.

This model reminds me of that Dwarf.

As to the respective likes and dislikes of the model, this fanbase has always had an issue with self-image in that no one can agree on a unifying theme. You can really tell that by reading the first two pages of comments where the same image was called “Too Chaos-y not enough dwarf”, “Too Dwarf-y, not enough Chaos”, and too “Chaos Dwarf Lord, not enough Dawi Zharr specifics or mutations”. (Which is odd that I didn’t even have to exaggerate those).

To me it looks like a Marauder Dwarf that was updated to the more recent model proportions of the Fantasy game. The little things like the feet, and the helmet look very “Marauder Dwarf”, though the horns are very modern Dwarf. While the armor and arms are very reminiscent of the Chaos Warriors. The nose and the armor details are some of the few throws to the Chaos Dwarfs of old.

The overall pose is a throw back to the model he did for Games Workshop some time ago (and which I’ve seen converted into several CD armies) of the Dwarf Lord leaning on his Axe/Hammer. Though while the pose of that dwarf seems old, tired, and angry (With head leaning on hands on the weapon and brow furrowed), the Pose of the Chaos Dwarf Lord is very haughty. You cant really tell from the front, but from the side he appears to be straight backed, with head held high.

Good post.

You’re right, we’re never going to agree on what a CD ought to look like.

For the record, I like the figure :cheers

Godbob and his jolly rogers:

Well I don’t think anyone thought that it was going to look like a WFB CD but instead were disapointed that it wouldn’t fit with the rest of there army but to be honest I do like the finished look

Kera foehunter:

he just working out the bug !! so that he can do a hot pirate dwarf chick like me !!!

* kera waits for the call *

Xander:

I think he did a fantastic job of blending various styles and looks and has finished with something decidedly unique yet familiar.

I ordered two.

Hashut’s Blessing:

I’m fairly sure me ol’ Doris has ordered one for me for Christmas.

Border Reiver:

Having taken a really good look, I’m really tempted to get it after Christmas. It won’t be a perfect match with the rest of the Assyrian Dawis, but hell, it still looks sweet.
